Got enough RODI in, now the first start, see if the Durso and piping size is working good.

Some Polyfilter to get the Water clear

So the 1" Durso did not work. The tank started overflowing.
So the 1,5" was to large to accomodate in the overflows so I gave it a try to the 1-1/4.

But had to cut off a lil on the T and Elbow, otherwise it would not fit.

Nothing is glued, only plugged, so I can take the parts apart later for cleaning.

Durso Top section

The temporary drain for the cleaning and testing.
The MAG9.5 and each single drain was nicely capable of dealing with the flow.
Thats great. So the intended two pumps and two drains will work perfect later.

The cleaning goes on, put a coral rack in for the move.
Now I'm waiting for the right temp and time to start the relocation of livestock and Refugium.

Time to bring the Corals over.

After that the Refugium has to be brought over.
This will allow nearly no biocycle on the new setup.
In a few weeks, I will built my own Refugium.

This is the temporary Filtration setup.
DSB, BIO PELLETS and GFO

Then I installed the WP60 about a week later.
I was really looking forward to the Power this guy has.

Impressing, the WP60 really turns the tank over.
I would only need some smaller ones for the back of the tank.

The next part is gonna be the entire electrical installation.
There is a lot of stuff that need to be installed and wired.
Important is now the dosing and cooling fans.

Yeah, thx, only problem was the tank is too small for the clowns to grow out.
Takes too long.

Temporary dosing installed.

Refugium as of now.
This will be replaced soon, but for now I need to do the electrical first.

So the Fans need some clean up.

I did the cleaning like I always do every few months.
No issues, no failures. just don get the side wet of the fans.

Installed from the left to the right, Low noise fans from Radioshack

The Reefkeeper controls the fans to maintain 26 deg C +-0.2degC

Then ist was time to get old one out into the garage.
I love this tank bit will give another rookie the chance to start into the hobby.

The tank itself is really nice, starphire just used a few years with nearly no scratches.
I will OVERHAUL this one and will sell it.

Tank in the garage

This is how the old tank looked on the past days before OTS.

First thing is cleanup run.
Clorix and Vinegar for a few days

Using an old refugium for the time of the OVERHAUL

Then it was time for another cleanup of the garage and finishing the workbench.

Cleaning is coming along

Restauration of the old stand.
Replacment of the bottom and cleaning, painting.

During the work

Equipment is cleaned up.

I'm always using vinegar towels for occasional cleaning the glass.
Results are good.

Tapwater cleaning run

All right,

the tank finally OVERHAULED for Craigslist.
Put it in for 750 as shown, and was sold on the next day.

So few people bother to clean, let alone refurbish, their old tanks before resale. I hope whoever got it appreciates the thought, time and effort you put into it.

The guy was really happy and exited. I sold the MP40, Fixture and the tank with plumbing and some spare lights.
I personally bought the tank and stand for 400, 2 years earlier as my first salty tank after the wife talked me into this hobby :-))

So I hope this gave another guy a lot of joy and a good start in the hobby.
The money, of course went right into new Liverock for the new tank!!!

Then the other day a Darwin Clown jumped into the overflow.
Getting him out was easier as I thought.
Here is how the NEMO was rescued.

Increased the height of the fixture with wooden blocks

removed the Durso

Removed the stand pipe. Good that the fixture can be slided to the front and to the back!!! DIY Hint!!!

Then I closed the valve. Good that I put them in!!! DIY Hint

Kept the drain line open

Then I shut the pumps off and open the valve.
There you go, flushed right into the refugium.

So it was time for the first few hundred pounds of fresh liverock.

Still havent started on the electrical. But the rock is needed first.

Dumped it into the tank so I can play around when the kids are in bed.

In order to support the rock, I need to build some piping structure with a connection for eventual connection to the pump.

hmmmm. what can we use.

Found some pipe and sufficient fittings

Need some stuff from the rack and started scaping

Taking it apart and drilled holes

preping the cuts

Placed the piperack and placed the first rocks on it.
