Sorry to hear about your experiences with cadlights... I guess I was lucky. Glad the info was helpful for you. |

I bought a Cadlights 45 gallon shallow and received it a couple weeks ago. Everything was included with the shipment and there was no damage. Guess I lucked out as well.
Wish I would have read your thread about the plumbing sizes. Just plumbed my setup this weekend and ended up using some metric to inches converter pieces that BRS sells. It worked fine, just end up with more fittings than I wanted. How hard was it to get the plumbing setup in the overflow section in the display tank? Did you install anything for catching debris on your emergency return or are you not concerned with it? I'm a bit concerned about only having a 1/2" return line, wish it was at least an inch or larger. I've got a reefkeeper lite with two power modules, but might also copy your DJ switch idea. It's relatively cheap and effective way to control equipment. Any thoughts on installing a fuge somehow? I'm considering installing one in the middle chamber or sectioning off a portion of the far right chamber and doing something there. Look forward to seeing your updates. |

Congrats on the new tank. I know there's a lot of negative feedback on cadlights but I've been more then happy with my setup. It wasn't too hard installing the plumbing inside the overflow, you just need to tighten from underneath the tank. I didn't install anything to catch debris to the emergency overflow. Since it's only used in emergencies it's no biggie, the important one you have to be concerned about is the main overflow. I had a bit of hiccup a few weeks ago when I came home. I keep filter floss material in the overflow chamber to catch debris before it drains down in the sumo and a piece of the media got sucked into the main overflow and got stuck. The water level rose and the emergency drain kicked in as it should. I think the cadlights sumps are set to allow to use the middle chamber as a fuge. I don't run one as I don't see any benefits for my setup. I opted to just use the middle chamber in mine to house a marine pure ceramic biomedical block and my media reactor. Good luck on the new tank. |

Been lagging on the updates lately as I've been really busy with work.
The tank's been doing well and has stabilized over the last couple of months. I'll have updated pics posted up soon. |

Came home to these new toys from Marine Depot.
Can't wait to set this dosing pump up. Got tired of dosing manually. |

Cool looking pump. I hadn't seen that one before. Good reviews so far

Made some dosing containers today out of some ziplock containers from walmart and threw on some RO fittings and rigid tubing. Best of all, cost me a total of $15 in parts.
I was hoping to setup the dosing pump today too but I had a change of plans. I decided to return the aquamedic evo 4 and went with a more reliable brand pump for some piece of mind. Ordered the Kamoer KSP - F03 3 channel pump, should be here on monday. |

Cool dosing containers. I need something small like that for my stand. What parts did you use on the top of the containers specifically?

Got the Kamoer dosing pump in. It's definitely built better then the Aquamedic one I previously bought with more features. Glad I opted to go with this one instead. Can't wait to set this up.

Not sure, I'm starting to think maybe he jumped out when I was putting seaweed in the seaweed clip I use before I leave for work early in the morning and didn't notice he actually went out the tank. My other clownfish did the same think the other morning but luckily he landed on my sleeve and not on the floor. I was able to get him back in the tank safely. |

Yep, very nice and clean!
Threads like this make one thing abundantly clear to newer reefers -- Buy what you want the first time, or you'll spend 2-3x as much playing the upgrade game |
