One of the ppl working w Sam told me the "a" series are prettier and newer. The difference stops there. They in fact recommended the normal dimmable ones to me over the "a" series....

But I do feel there are better thing about the nova series such as the modular aspect and the better cooling fans and easier to repair..

But although someone said they have heatsinks I think they say "like heat sinks" yet its just more fans and better ones then the D 120 but I could be wrong I just really don't think they have heat sinks but deff better cooling system

Sam just emailed me and said that they use 500mA drivers in their units. Can these be used with controllers?

Not enough info.

The drivers need to provide a 0 to 10V output interface. If they don't, it might be possible to replace them with drivers that do.

Thinking about buying one of these units to accent my kessils i have on my 75g. I am just wondering what the difference between optics and no optics is. Sorry if this has been answered but I searched a bit and couldnt find anything.

Well I don't want to jump the gun yet so we will see how sam handles it but ima a tad upset .

I told sam my wants and ratios and everything was good and fine and he made my link and I paid well this morning I get an email that the way I wanted the switches laid out can't work for some reason which I wanted it like this
Switch one 17 whites 11 blues
Switch two 19 blue 4 whites 4 violets which was fine before I paid

But now he says he can't and how's this instead? Switch 1 30 blues and switch 2 21 white and 4 violets?

Which is not what I wanted at all lol and I don't like how its changed now that I paid .. I at least want my violets on my blue switch... like I said don't judge or be scared to buy from them ill decide that for next time on how sam handles this so ill keep you all posted sam seems like a good guy so I'm sure he will try and get it how I want

The different leds themselves might have different power requirements. Not all leds use the same amount of power, and the drivers might not be able to handle your requests. I would trust the ratio he provided, and change them around yourself at a later date if you aren't happy. You would probably have to solder them in.

I have 4 violet leds waiting myself to add in.

Unless I need to provide a signature, my NOVA unit arrives today! First in the US.

I'll post pics and impressions as soon as I can. It might take a bit to set up and hang, and I'll probably wait a day before cracking it open.

That's all fine and dandy if I was told that AHEAD of time but it was made to seem like my desires were fine and then I paid and now its changed so I get what your saying but to me that's not the point. Besides I have no clue how to add leds to this unit myself not savy in that area at all.

as long as he can at least move the vioelts to the blue switch something more like
Switch one 21 whites 9blues and switch 2 21 blues 4 violets ill be better but still I don't like being told how I wanted it was fine and good to go and understood and then I pay and now it can't be done

I believe his ratio he was given would look much better actually. Sam is not an engineer, he is just sales.

Violet leds are very dim, and you would hardly notice them. It wouldn't matter if they were on the blue or white switch. Having all blue on one switch would be much more convenient.

Since they are using Royal Blues, 30 switch one all blue : White/Violet 21:4 would be a great ratio

Aren't the violets for bringing out more colors in the corals? If so to me it makes more sense that the violets be with the blues since your blues are more so a day and night view and popping color look

Since you are dealing directly with one of the factories that makes them, you have more options available. Shipping is incredibly quick too. My unit shipped friday and is on delivery to me today. That is just silly quick from Hong Kong. I don't even get most US deliveries that quick.

many of us has apex or reefkeeper, Why can't we ask Sam to make it compatible with 0-10v control?
