I would try to Google the model number. If that doesn't give you an answer, just call the Cole parmer customer service number, or email them. They're nothing but incredibly helpful and timely with their responses.

That model is not brushless. The brushless ones usually say brushless or maintenance free in the description. They are also listed as twice that price in their catalog,

Here is the manual for that model. It also shows the brushes in the exploded diagrams.

Can you please send me a link or model of one with the brushless? I don't want the wife to complaint about the noise.

They are listed in this thead. The most commonly available units are model numbers 7523-60, 7550-30, 77301-20, and 77301-30.
That said, the 7523-60 is the brushless version of the 600 rpm pump you were looking at. I run a 7523-80 but that is a newer and more expensive 600 rpm brushless model that is silent. Then again, most of the brushless models are pretty much silent.

I am waiting on my "new to me " CP peri . it is the 7554-90 model with a 7021-20 head running LS pharm med 16 . can't wait to get this thing running . from all the threads I have read I will be pulling fluid through the reactor which is a Geo 612 part of why I made this choice is on more than one occassion my reactor has leaked from the O-ring . I got new ones and still the same problem . so that leads me to believe I am building to much pressure in the chamber . of course I found this thread after buying it lol. great thread

Thanks, I was looking at the 7523-60 at first but when I saw the LCD and the buttons, I thought it would be much less reliable than the old analog dial. Will look into the digital instead for the brushless motor.

The digital is much nicer because you can set the flow down to the fraction of a milliliter or my RPM instead of guessing the flow by counting RPM's as you would have to with a knob. FWIW, these pumps are very reliable and built to last.

pump choices

i am able to get my hands on either a 7522-20 or 7523-80 drive unit, also they both have the 77200-62 head on them, this uses the 15.24.35.36, tubing, would either one of these work for a ca reactor setup, geo 624. any help would be greatfull. thanks

I have the 7523-80 which is the same as the 7522-20 near as I can tell. It's a great pump! As far as tubing, with that head, LS24 would be the best bet but I would probably look for an alternate head so you can use the LS17 tubing. A new head should cost you around $100 and if you have an eBay account, you could sell the 77200-62 for about the same.

thanks for the quick reply, i think the 7522-20 is the newest model out, from what i can see on cole parmer's site, was wonder if i shoould go with that or the 7523-80, though about picking up a different head, seen a few on ebay
i can get either drive unit, it would cost me very little to go either way.

I do believe you are correct. The 7522-20 is the newer version although I think it's just a model change and not any physical differences.

Is 6-600RPM really needed or can one get by with 1-100RPM?

You'll be fine with the slower rpm motor. Just more noise and wear than the other gearing for the same ml/min. Otherwise no issues.

K so I just won a Masterflex 7520-40 for cheap but it has no pump head. What head and tubing do you all recommend?

LS-17 tubing is what we normally suggest. I would suggest a 7518-10 head or any other Easy Load II head that supports LS 17 tubing.

Damn, your fast! I edited my post with the head I would suggest.. 7518-10 or any other Easy Load II head that supports LS 17 tubing. The 7518-10 has stainless steel rollers which is a good thing.

Awesome thanks for the info. Found a 7518-10 head for a good price so snatched it up. Having a hard time finding LS17 tubing that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I found some ls16 though for real cheap. Can choose between platinum and peroxide cured. Can I get away using this? Reactor is a geo 612.

Got my pump in today. Put the pump head in and noticing the drive motor is running kind rough at super low rpm. Does the tubing need to be rubbed with some silicone grease so it runs smoother?

You don't need to use any silicone lube on the hose. Is it just clicking you are hearing? If so, it's kind of normal for some units. If you remove the head, you will see the motor shaft has a slot on it. If you look at the back side of the head, you will notice it's keyed to fit into the slot on the motors shaft. There is in some cases enough play between the pump head and the motor that it causes some clicking. Some people get some thin adhesive backed tar like paper from Home Depot and put it into the key slot to tighten the fit between the two parts. Others have used Teflon tape over the male keyed part on the head side to address the noise.
