pretty sure I have convinced myself to join the club. my tank is 25x18x18, I want to be covered to grow anything I may desire (hate having to buy something twice) in this tank.
would I be better off with two a160we or one a360we?? |

The 2 light will ensure more coverage, but the single 360 will look sleek , kessil say that a 360 can cover a 24x24 area , but I find a lot of shading , so if u look for growth I'll recommend u to go for the 2 160.... |

That sounds a good schedule, really close to mine but I'm trying to get the intensity up to 100% slowly, also like the blue color better... Thanks for sharing |

Here's a tank pic of my 40 gallon Breeder Softie tank. A single A160E over the middle of it, about 9" off the surface. Tank is about 1 year old now. Light is only at about 60% intensity and about 50% spectrum balance.

hawk232, if you're going to add sps later on, I would suggest two 160's. Here's my 23x12x14 tank with two 160's. Intensity is 65% (with a mid-day peak of 70%) and colour is 30% during peak hours (6hrs).
Just took this pic on my iphone, so forgive the crappy quality. |

Hi Minus! Just wanted to say that I get that same effect on my rear glass. You must have a wrasse or two in there as I note the netting. Cheers.

I have a white banded possum wrasse, but it's mostly for my neon goby. He sometimes gets freaked out and jumps out of the water. I've had to fish him out from the back chamber when he glanced off of my arm while I was doing some routine cleaning. He tends to clean my hand while it's in the tank, but if I move a certain way, he darts away, sometimes in the wrong direction. I initially put it on for the clowns (they were pretty small when I got them) so they wouldn't jump out, but they've made their home in my euphyllia and pretty much stay there, unless it's feeding time.
You can't tell from the picture, but the entire back wall is covered in coralline. The netting doesn't cast that much of a shadow in the tank (I modded the netting by cutting larger openings to allow more light to pass), the shimmer really comes from the surface agitation, which I like a lot with these lights. It's one way that I combat the shading issue with these lights. |

Hello,
thinking of joining the Kessil club myself. I am setting up a 48"x30"x16" (16" high). I was wondering how many 160w I would need for this tank. I am thinking of mostly lps and zoas with the rare piece of sps. Thanks! |

Just got off the phone with Kessil. My info: top of rocks approximately 7" below the water line; AP700's 8" above water line; new tank with no corals; intend to have mostly sps from mid to upper and a few lps on bottom.
Kessil: 8" is ok for now, but later, if sps need it, I may want to lower to 5-6"; Kessil recommends a 10 hour photoperiod for best growth and coloration, with 2 hours of peak intensity. Here's the recommended program (start time noon for simplicity): Time: Intensity Noon: 10% 2:00: 20-30% 5:00 70% 7:00 70% 8:30 30% 10:00 10%/OFF There is not a significant difference in color chosen because there is full spectrum at each color selection; for example, I was told there is as much blue spectrum in Sky Blue as there is in Deep Blue. |

Does anyone have long term success with ONLY kessils? I am upgrading to a reefer 525xl and I really like the way they look have been using T5 only with good results. Prior to that used MH and T5 which had great results. I see many are supplementing with T5 which I refuse to do, I want the kessil so I don't need the other lights.
Has anyone here had good long term success with ONLY Kessils? I was considering doing 3 A360 WE, running very close to the water I hate light spillage, I may even do 4. But I can't seem to find any long term kessil owners that swear by them, I have seen coral shops but they are running like 4 kessils on a 36x36 at that point I may embrace the disco ball and go radion. Please let me know of your success or failure with these lights. Thanks!!!!! |

I could use some help as im loving this new Kessil 360w light. I bought a cube tank and it came with it. Im seeing a brown diatom outbreak on my sand and rock. After getting my water tested, zero nitrates and low to zero phosphates running Rowaphos im thinking the light may be the issue. Its been running on the following schedule
13:00 5% color 35%intensity 14:05 10% color 50%intensity 16:00 30%color 65% intensity 17:00 30% color 70% intensity 19:00 10% color 70% intensity 22:00 0% color 0% intensity Could these serttings be the problem? Any recommendations on my current settings? |

How has that worked out for you so far?
This is my light schedule on mine, I am now to 55% peak and some LPS don't like it.

So far so good. Most of my corals seem happy except some sps which I'm still trying to figure out. My lps are (mostly) open and happy but growth is yet to be determined. As far as my intensity, I don't know how far off the water you are, but I am about 15-16" off the water line since I'm covering a 4' tank. |

Link 2 AP700s?
Has anyone successfully linked 2 AP700s? Or link them to a wifi router for that matter? Can't seem to do either on my 2 units. Seems silly to change ssids just so I can change settings on the light, then change it to match the other light, then change to my wifi router if I want to check something online, then change it back again to fiddle.
It so frustrating and badly designed its not even funny!

Yes, once you get the hang of it it's not too bad. After setting up the lights the first time, I lost my router signal and had to do it all over again but haven't had any issues since. As long as both units are showing the same number on your ipad, they will be in sync. What is/are your specific issues?

I cannot get the lights to show up. I go through the setup but the light does not come up in the last screen. No matter how long I wait and hit refresh list.
When I try to connect directly, I can get both lights individually but not both at the same time. When I try to add a light, I get stuck at the last connect to wifi K******** screen. It keeps giving me an error. So right now, I have both lights setup but log in and out of each light individually.

Do any of you guys have two or maybe three A160Ws on a 6ft tank? I have one on my daughters tank now and was thinking of getting 2 more. Or 1 if I can get away with it on my 180g FOWLR. If I have to get 4, I'd rather go with another lighting option.
