Well, it's confirmed, what ai told us to try worked. I put the module in sol white mode and everything is controllable once again. Time to over night the module come monday morning and pray for a quick turn around.

Please post pics of lights hanging or on custom mounts. I cant hang from ceiling and now very concerned the light will be too close to the water using the stock legs. Which of course will get splash and damage! I'm freaking out this is a major expense for me i want it to work out!

So I have submitted a ticket to AI, and have tried surfing this thread for the answer without success.....

Is there a longer track available than the 6'? I have an 8' tank and 6 modules I am preparing to hang.....

Comments/suggestions?
Thx,
D

maybe use (2) 4' lengths & hang independently.

I have a slight bow using the 72" & 6 modules on a 7' tank.

The weird thing is, I can still control the lightning storm.
Change the controller cable, I just had the same problem and found intermittent continuity on the center band of the jacks. Go out to radio shack and pick up a replacement cable. I made up a temp cable and that fixed the problem, my lights are still under warranty so Joe over at AI is sending me a replacement.

After reading further I see what happened with the upgrade from white to blue and using the AI controller, what I don't understand is how did Rostato control them previously. But if you are having intermittent control problems above is what my problem was.

I know it was solved, I noted it in my post that I found it later on.
How were you controlling the lights, Profilux?

Yeah, I was using the profilux. Much nicer than the so controller, but also MUCH more expensive.

Aluminum tubing w endcaps? Then you just sat them on top of the stock rack? How do you like the light itself so far?

theres a circle in the middle of the entire optic, cant miss it. If it has one, its a 70 degree, if it doesnt, a 40 degree.

Nope all pc.s are bolted together. You can see the eye hooks and nut on the bottom to the stock rails here.

So far so good with the lights. No effect on the coral as of now. Everything still looks nice ans healthy, no bleaching.

I just hooked up a sol white a couple days ago. I have the latest firmware on the controller and was wondering what the lunar cycle is all about. I turn it on for my last timer setting at night, and it seems to just turn the lights completely off. Is this normal? It has done this for the last couple of days now. In other words I don't get any moonlight at all.

I am going to be running A 45x24x20 rimless tank. It will be a mixed reef, heavy on LPS. Do you think I can get away with 2 sol Blue units. If so what would be the best way to mount the units, side to side or back to front? Thanks

disregard my previous post, the lunar cycle does indeed turn off all the light completely sometimes, but last night it kept the blues on at 1%.

Joe at AI said to set the lighting for the Lunar cycle at the highest level you want (as if full moon) then it will cycle thru the lunar calendar and dim/brighten accordingly.

Quick question...
I am going from 3 250w MH to 4 AI blues. I'm looking at purchasing a par meter for a smoother transition and wondering if a cheaper lux meter will not accomplish the same thing and save me around $250?

Currently im running a 4X2X2ft 120g tank with 2 maxspect g2 160w. I keep mostly SPS and so far everything is going great. By the end of next month, I will be upgrading to a 5.5x2ft tank which is around 150g or so. For this the 2 maxspects will definitely not be enough so instead of buying 1 more maxspect, i was thinking i will be upgrading to AI sol either white or blue.

How many units will i need for my new tank size of 5.5ft?

Should i order the white or the royal blue one?

How high should i be placing the lights? (i have a friend who runs 2 units over his 3ft cube and he hangs his 18in from the water level)

Thanks guys!

Please check with your local club as they might have one you can borrow

Not sure I can answer your question but PAR is what you want, it measures the actual active radiation which coral respond to.

I think lux would more or less be eyeballing it based on how much brightness you see.
