I have asterinas, the micro algae grazing ones. Had a big boom in population for a while, but that tapered and I have what I'd consider a reasonable amount. See them here & there now, but not all over crazy like they were. They've been in the tank for a couple years now & I just recently noticed that they weren't as numerous. Could have been the flatworm treatment, but we didn't notice any of them dead during or after the treatment.

LOL maybe you should submit a photo for ID then we can see specifically how much damage they may cause... you may notice the wife constantly digging in your wallet, and the children will eat a home bare within days if left unchecked - apparently once you've let these hitchhikers in there's no getting rid of them, and some people actually come to enjoy having them around

I think Sk8r and Sushi Girl might have something different to say about the ID on these... I'll wait for their kick.

So I got an email saying someone was asking for an ID on this thread, posted at 10:44 pm today. Don't see the post here no matter how many times I open this thread. Very odd.

Anyway, the first is a sponge, the second is some kind of coral.

I got the same thing. I wonder if the post is hidden or blocked be a forum admin.

I even posted in here and it still said they were the last posted thread.

I'm pretty sure the same post was made further back in this thread because the pics gave me deja vu LOL. Weird.

don't know if this counts as a hitchhiker or not, but found this white hazy growth on the back of a rock. It's covering approximately a 3 X 4 inch area.

I am looking at the with white string in the middle of the pic. I have lots of these that come out at night especially. They seem to just blow in the current. I assume they are just filter feeders of some sort.

Digitate hydroids. They can be really annoying. I've had them annoy zoas, but eventually the zoas get used to them. Haven't found a way to get rid of mine.

I am subscribed to this thread and read all new items and guess, in my head as to their ID, I am right on most of them, only from reading previous ID requests.

Guess what I found tonight?

I have LR/LS fish 2x anemones shrimp and a GOOD size CUC.

Ohh and yes I have bristle worms. I see them all the time, I pick on them with food and intising them out so I can see their size.

The only things I have added lately are some corals.

YES I dipped them in coral rx and gave them a rinse off per directions both here and on the bottle.

Now here are some of my normal ones:

Well I'll have to get out the hook and line to catch this one.

SushiGirl.... is my gut/instinct correct as to this ID?? (NO not a bristle worm)

RATS.... Why does it looks like a immature fireworm? I mean I have seen lots of bristles. I have one that is prob close to 8+ inches long, and it was not even stretched out.

Rats... Well good to know though.

You wouldn't want a fireworm anyway, it'd eat your corals. They're actually kind of interchangeable as far as calling them fireworms/bristleworms, but that particular kind doesn't eat corals or livestick IME, and I have a bunch of them.

These little buggers have always been present in my tank, coming out of little crevices with lights out and often on the glass. Now I seem to have tons of them.

What could they be?
