I apologize in advance for the crappy iphone photos. I really do love these D120's, I just spaced them a little too far apart and get some shading in the middle. However, it is exaggerated in the photographs and not as noticeable in person. I am considering cutting a piece of conduit to mount between the brackets so that I can slide them into what ever position I want. Thanks for looking!

MH and T5 are proven and perfected through years of experience and advances, LED is not. There is still much to improve upon with leds, as you can see with manufacturers changing their led layouts yearly. In less than a year, standard royal blue/cool white fixtures are now obsolete.

If part of an LED fixture "Group Buy" (about 12 units+) they have been available directly from EverGrow in China @.50 each. Not sure if they will sell seperately (shipping a potential cost problem) but you can ask her: EverGrow-Sunny [sales12@evergrowlighting.com]. Or get in touch with your local Marine club as they probably have a Group Buy (GB) going on and maybe you could order some through that GB.

Based on this, is its better to go with Reefbreeders to have the US warranty?

Why do I not see these model numbers on the web site? I don't see IT2080 just the value and different size controllables

I just installed two Evergrow D120 units over my 36" cube tank. I got these in a group buy which we had heat sinks installed and a custom layout. I really like the coverage and color that these put out. They are hanging 17" above the water and they are only turned up 50% in these photos so I have plenty of intensity left to play with. They are brighter to my eyes and not so blue in person than the photos show.

Here is the layout that we used. Ignore the moonlight reference as the D120 does not have controllable moonlights but the layout is the same.

The IT2080 is the 32" model. The Chinese website evergrow uses that number. Mine should be here today!!! From reefbreeders!!!!

These chinese websites are hard to follow, looks like they repeat their products multiple times

Thanks, anyone doing group buys?

If i swap out my D120's for new ones, that is the layout i think i'd go with, but i think i would swap the 470nm for 440nm's and the 630nm for 660nm. Other than that....i think its one of the best looking (to my eye) combo i've seen so far!

I have 2 D120's and an IT2040 and they run stone cold with very quiet fans. There doesn't seem to be a need for any custom heat sink. My IT2080's on the other hand do put out a bit of heat. Nowhere close to what to 4 250W MH's did in the same canopy, but they aren't room temp like the D120 and IT2040.

Question for you guys about the D120's. I have a 180 gallon reef I am setting up and going to be going with 3. The lights will be about 8 - 10" off the water... Should I have just the 120 degree for the led's or have the 90 degree optics on them? Not sure with the 90 degree optics if I will get enough spread... The other option is buy one with optics and the other 2 without and then divide the optics so each unit has 1/3 optics on it....

Thoughts?

Just my two cents... I'd go with the optics. Or maybe 2 with for the lights at the ends (which keeps light from spilling out of the tank) and 1 without optics for the middle (to help cover the entire bottom. And it's easy to take the light apart and remove some optics if you have the need. It's just 8 screws outside and 4 inside, then a 1/4 twist or less and optics come off.

Two of the IT2080's work really well, and so far I'm very impressed. The timer/controller is cool (but not really needed. And having 2 power cords instead of 6 is also nice.

For those wondering..I bought a D120 9 months ago with just blues and whites. Over the course of a few months I upgraded the leds spectrum as best as I could. Everything has been doing great and growing nicely. Mostly a LPS/Softie tank.

As for the unit itself, I had it opened more than 3 times replacing leds for a better spectrum. No heat issues, no fan issues, everything works as it should. Hardly any dust inside or dirt build-up. The only issue I have which was addressed on other posts was the violet leds browning or spotting on the optics. I am trying to find some new ones or a substitute for the 3watt bridgelux that will work with the drivers of this unit. I am in the process of contacting Sam from Everygrow to see about replacement leds again. I got them before but hopefully they can be purchased without a group buy or something.

Please stop asking about this. Organizing group buys is against RC rules, and caused the old thread to be closed.

I asked as well and didn't know it was a violation, odd since BRS set up group buys all the time when they had their sponsor forum.

Sorry, I wasn't aware it was a violation.

Don't PM me about a group buy then. Thanks!
