Sucked up two of these, in the turkey baster, headed and around my new corals today. I had some in my tank when I had my 120, I remove on site now:

More hitchhiker photo's
I'm pretty sure i've already identified these guys but there are two in here that I haven't yet.
Let me know if i'm on the right track Bristle Worm Hyroids? These are red tentacles that sweep the sandbed and retract with light. No clue what they are This is some hitchhiker red stick stuff, again I think it may be a coral but i'm not sure |

Once again there's a post in my email that's not showing up in the thread. In response to it:
Bristleworm Ball anemones, get rid of them if you can. They've taken over my tank LOL. Spaghetti/hair worm, harmless. Maybe some type of algae? Don't know of any corals like that.

Could be. It's a difficult thread. It would be easier if from the beginning people would have looked through it before posting. There's only a small handful of things that get posted that aren't already in here, but it's time consuming to go through every page looking for what you need ID'd now because it's so long. That was why I started my albums & my homepage, hoping to take a little strain off the thread, but it didn't work! LOL

Good luck. If you find something that actually kills them, let me know. I've tried injecting lemon juice, kalk paste, vinegar, kalk paste mixed with vinegar, and kalk mixed with hydrogen peroxide. They get mad for a day or so, then come back laughing LOL.

Update on my coral eating critter: It may be a worm I found in the rock that had the mucus tube structures and the affected corals. (I took the rock out). I flushed out a normal bristleworm type critter, then another worm that was quite different. I wish I could take a pic but it got a bit mangled during the extrication procedure....it is the size of a smallish bristleworm but has no bristles anywhere. It's kind of orangey/pink color with a darker red line down the middle (looks like blood/innards). It's definitely segmented and has really small little nubs where a bristleworm has bristles. Possibly the Oenone? Anyway, it's out. We'll see if the problem occurs again, hopefully not!

I had the wrong worm, description. Of the body sounds like a Eunicid. A description of the head would be ideal.

A eunicid...I will google pics and compare. The head, well there was some squishing that inadvertently occured as I was chiseling bits of rock apart (determined to find the thing).
Ok, back from looking at pictures. Too bad the head got squished, now it's hard to tell. It really does look like some of those eunicids though. Not, thank goodness, like the one laid out 7feet long next to a car! Yikes!! This is the one it looked like most: (although headless) http://invertebrates.si.edu/palola/opt/Fig4_worm_hr.jpg |

ok so i got a couple hermitcrab ID's for someone...? the brown ones were sold to me as scarlets, which as they have gotten bigger i can see now that i don't think they are, so what are they? they are probably about.... 1/2"-3/4" big, getting bigger, eating diatoms and other substrate crud like crazy!! both claws the same size, both used for eating. so far they haven't caused any trouble but i would like to be forewarned if thats going to be the case soon lol
this little guy is TINY - like, smaller than my legit blue dwarf hermits! he came to me as a snail from the LFS, and obviously is not. its hard to see but the right claws is much larger than the left, and he only uses the left to eat with. he also is constantly digging and burying himself in the sand... normal? seems to eat algae mostly. my hubby calls him the albino lol

I have no idea on the hermits, I believe GerritM (not sure on the spelling of his name) is really good at hermit ID. A lot of them don't really have common names.
I'll leave worm ID to LeslieH, as she's the expert there. Green0j0s, not sure what I'm supposed to be looking at.

Sorry I was talking about the small white branching organism coming out from one of the crevices in the rock here's another shot of it.

Tentacle in Crevice = Horror
Hi guys, it's late and I can't sleep. This thing has me creeped out!
It looks like some kind of worms, it's sensitive to light and touch and the "tentacle" can extend as far as 2". I have a nano tank so that makes it comparatively HUGE. Yuck! I've also included a youtube video of it when I tried to touch it with a chopstick... http://youtu.be/JSB8KrV9wv4 |

Green, looks like a type of sponge.
Adre, looks like a harmless type of worm. I don't remember what the ones with one tentacle are called but they're similar to spionid worms that have 2 tentacles. They help keep the tank clean.

In response to the latest post that doesn't show up
It looks like Halimeda, an algae that requires calcium to grow. It rarely takes over tanks. I'd call it a good find if it makes it.
