OK, this is just the first pic of the IT2040 over my new tank. It was taken with an android phone which is not great. The water is cloudy because it was just filled about 10 minutes before the pic. The rock is just tossed in and not aquascaped yet.

Sorry guys I am wrong, its 72in wide, I was a little brain dead there. Looks like I would need 3 D120s or a couple 2080s

Hello all, been researching for a light for my 40B I'm piecing together. I've read through a good portion of the thread, but before I place an order I want to double check.
I was looking to get the reefbreeder it2060. I'll be keeping mostly lps with with some sps up top. But I am concerned that 1.) the 24" fixture won't be enough spread and my new concern after reading through the post 2.) the more spaced LEDs on the 24" will cause spotlighting and the reds and greens not blending with the whites and blues. Really didn't want to spend the extra $ for the it2080 but its an option. If the24" will work, what is the recommendation on the optics? Any input is appreciated Last edited by Indiereefer; 01/06/2013 at 05:00 PM. |

Depends if it has optics or not and if you will have it in a canopy or exposed

I saw on one of the Alis sites (don't understand why there is several) that there was a minimum purchase. Thats not good.

I just installed my new Maxspect Razors today. I was anxious to get them up to compare...
It turns out, one unit is DOA. The other unit has a bad power supply. I took the good power supply and good light, hooked them up, and it looks... good. That's the thing though, for $494, it should look awesome. I think it needs time to break in, but I'm sorely missing having a few reds right now. Personally, I like the look from my custom IT light better. I like the controller on the IT lights better too, aside from its inability to smoothly ramp up/down like the Razor. The included leg mounts sit way too low to the tank too, causing spotlighting. Luckily I can return the doa unit and power supply, but I'm disappointed right now. IT lights all the way until something better and just as affordable comes along. |

Just got my new IT2080. Will try to post some pics tomorrow. Im loving it so far but a bit confused on how to program the timers and sunrise sunset effects. Wish the manual made more sense to me. Was anyone else confused? Any help would be helpful

bhazard451 looking back through the thread, I see you've answered a few of my questions and I dont think I said thanks, so thanks man!
I dont remember seeing many people using 60 degree optics, how deep would a tank need to be to warrant these? Wont these optics give a lot of spotlighting? Quote:
Is this the hanging kit that comes with the IT lights or know where to find these? |

willj, I got mine for $340 delivered in a group buy of 24 fixtures.
offroadr, EverGrow has minimum orders listed as well, but they don't really seem to apply. They were willing to sell me 2 when the site said minimum of 10. wright4941, it is a bit confusing. If you are still having issues, send me a PM and I'll try to help you out. Once you understand the process it isn't hard at all, it just takes time to scroll thru 24 or 48 time segments and set the power % for each channel.

OK, my tank is clear, but no pic of that yet. The light is the right color for my tastes, but nothing is in the tank. I may have to design something else for the light so it is attached at the rim of the tank. Hanging the way I have it is blinding and I cannot afford my daughter to look up at it. I know I can tell her "no", but a 7 year old will still do it.I am thinking I need to get it to about 3-4" above the rim of the tank at most. Right now, it is about 8-12". If I hang it that low, it is better to mount to the tank.
Any ideas on mounting options? |

I received my 2 IT2080's yesterday. All I can say is WOW!!
I replaced some cheapo MH fixtures and went from 12 plugs to 2 plugs. I am so happy. Still need to figure out the programming but I am very impressed so far with the controllability of the unit. Pics tonight!!
