The diffusers are more for reducing the sharp shimmer effect I think.

blasphemy!

Kessil customer service is 5 star.

I recently purchased 2 A160WEs TB for my 120g FOWLR. One of them was a little noisy, noticeable when my pumps were off.

They sent me a replacement the same day I brought this to their attention but I received a A360WE instead of a 160.

The Kessil rep apologized for the mistake and offered to let me keep the 360 and just send back the noisy 160 (Kessil pays postage) and is mailing me a t-shirt for my troubles.

Being the idiot that I am, I declined the offer and have another 160 in the mail headed my way.

They're a Taiwanese company.

There an American company with a manufacturing plant in Taiwan.

American company would say Made in America on their product. I know most will disagree with me.

So, what's the verdict on the ap700? I'm looking to get 3 for a 78x36x27 inch mixed reef tank. I haven't seen them in person, but I'm hoping it's not just a blue disco ball with harsh shadows.

Right now, I'm running a 400W Reflux 12k. Can anyone compare?

I love mine. Will be running 2 on a 60/27/27 190 that will be setup few weeks.

They just released diffusers that will reduce the shimmer and help with the shadowing.

Not if they manufactured it somewhere else. Companies like Dell, IBM etc have American and overseas manufacturing plants but are American companies.

I though the company is based in California? And the products are manufactured overseas, like 99% of everything else. Just because it is manufactured overseas doesn't mean it is not an American company.

IMO they are flat out the best LED fixtures right now. They are still developing and improving the app support, I'm using the iPhone beta app and it has worked very well. I love the slim sleek look, the shimmer, color blending, color, power, control, the Kessil Logic, I just think they are supper cool also!

Interesting...my Honda was designed in Japan, built in Canada, has parts from all over the world, and most assembled here are exported to the US.
Difficult to say sometimes what nationality many products actually are, other than the nameplate. I consider my Honda a Canadian product because it was actually built here. Japanese nameplate, but thats about it.

I have a pair of a360we on my tank and I love them.

Except I want to have some light on the tank at night. Nothing commercial I have seen will look nice on the Kessils but I have seen a DIY here http://http://www.reefcentral.com/fo....php?t=2500998. The problem is the LEDs come in 3 shades of white and 2 blues. Anyone have an idea of what color to get?

Also, you all have kessils what do you do for moon lighting?

Oh, a company is the nationality were they are incorporated. Not where they make stuff, do most of their business, or design products.

Kessil does the same thing as Honda, but in reverse..so its a nuanced argument either way.
Like Apple products... built in a foreign country, all foreign labor, all foreign parts..but many consider the iPhone an American product. Depends on your point of view of what is actually "American".
Do you consider your Levi's that were made in Mexico an American product because it has an American name? Some do, I don't.

Even I was made in Norway and Germany, but assembled in America. All that matters is that I pay American taxes. Better than double Irish with a Dutch sandwich. Google it

DiCon Kessil pays taxes in both Taiwan and the US. That distinction is vague as well.

Yes, I would consider Apple products to be Chinese.
The design is done here, but little else. ALL of the cost of building the actual product is spent in China. Its all Chinese labor and all foreign parts...

Bottom line: Apple is an American company, of course, but their products are all made in China.
DiCon Kessil is an American company, of course, but all of their products are made in Taiwan.

I return to my example about blue jeans: Do you consider your Mexican made Levi's an American product?

As with many things, it depends on your point of view.

I said in my original post that most would not agree with me, but at least someone else knows where I'm coming from.
