Several of the links are dead and I was wondering if anyone had an updated list of sources for acrylic panels for reasonable prices. Also, I noticed mention of diamond bits for cutting? Is this a requirement or can you use an ordinary wood cutting tools? Another question on solvents. Do you use caulk or the liquid sealant (can't remember what it's called just that it's pretty hazardous to handle). Do you cut joints in your panels before you attach them? Or just attach them smooth to smooth edge. How do you avoid saw marks on the acrylic when you cut it or do you buff them out. Thanks.

Crayolaviolence, that thread would be best to ask your questions. But for acrylic you dont wanna use diamond coated bits, use wood bits but lots of teeth. To bond use weld-on solivent never use the caulk.attach them smooth edge to smooth edge. And use a router to get rid of the teeth marks from cutting.

With each vendor listing I try to give a note about them. So many places sell things like bulkheads that it would be a huge database not a list and would be a real job to setup. When someone wants a bulkhead I just send them to [DIY] and there are several places there that sell them. the more specialized things are what need to stand out in the list like diamond drill bits becasue not everyone sells them.

I get my diamond bits from BRS. You can save a couple bucks from someone else or you can have it shipped with the other crap you ordered.

Out of the acrylic sheet company's listed, which one has the quality, price and lowest shipping costs ?
If I can get it cheap enough, I want to build several tank related projects. |

Saltwater changing station for my 180 gallon Reef tank
I just finished putting together a saltwater changing station in my garage for my 180 gallon reef tank. It turned out better than I could have asked for.

Hi!
I haven't tried ordering from them, but they seem to have a variety of colored gravels that will best serve the color you'd want to have. http://www.thatpetplace.com/aquarium...shwater-gravel ---- Also, here's to add to your DIY needs, guys! LDC Pumps: Energy Saving Water Pumps. Keep us posted with your suggestions, we might need a new reference or more for DIY's! |
