Had a setback on Monday night. I found what I thought to be a slow leak in a pipe next to the frag tank. I was messing around with trying to narrow down where it was by turning ball valves to isolate different sections of the plumbing. I found out that I had not glued a small connection in a hard to reach spot when it slipped out and water shot everywhere. Fortunately I was able to turn a ball valve and shut off water to that part of the plumbing while still keeping everything to the display going. It seemed like water was spraying everywhere for a long time but in reality it was more around 30 seconds. I don't have any idea how I missed this or how it only started to leak now after 2-3 months of running. I'm just glad I found out this way instead of other ways.

Really Nice Build. How do you like Fritz? I have been having cloudy and precipitation issues in my 90G and I thinking of switching after I run through this batch of salt I have

I haven't tried them yet. A friend suggested that I should make the switch but, I still have a box and a bag left of reef crystals. Both Fritz boxes are the same lot# so when I open the first one and mix it I will post results. Currently I change about 25 gallons every 10-15 days. It could be late Feb early March before I break into them.

Lost the Magnificent Foxface today. Water tests shows a little ammonia in the water now. .25-.5 ppm not sure if this is from the decay of the foxface while I was at work or not. All other parameters are in check. (besides PO4) As of 10pm last night he was alive and eating. Showed no signs of disease, Gills were not red, was not hiding or avoiding interaction with other fish. I have always felt that I know when a fish is going to kick the bucket by observing their behavior. I was surprised by this today.
Prepping for a water change now. Kind of frustrated.

Brought some more rock and coral from my old 75 gallon tank home and put it in the frag tank. The goal is to move it all slowly so when I finally move the whole 75 gallon tank there isn't much but the tank left to move.

Added ~6L of Seachem Matrix to the system this week. Got this old Calcium reactor that was all beat up for almost nothing and converted it to a reactor. I had help from kegogut doing some waterweld just to get a few fittings on it. It was really beat up.

Some full tank shots to show the GHA has been beaten back to only a small area in the bottom left of the scape. I think the Purple tang and more GFO helped with this.
still not sure that I like the rock scape on the right side of the tank.

Been a while. Scape has changed a little. Got more involved with the local reef club. Haven't updated or messed a whole lot with the tank until today.

Added 3 more blue/green reef Chromis to make a total school of 9. I really enjoy how full the school looks now. They add a lot of active movement to the tank. I also added a baby blue acan under the green slimer.
Just an FYI the green slimer is part of a coral growing contest for my local club.

Bringing home my old 75 gallon Display tank this weekend. It has finally been emptied of all livestock, liverock, and coral. Going to plum it into the same sump as the 180. I don't know what I am going to put in it yet. Thinking about things like a nem tank, a lionfish tank, or maybe a display refugium.

refugium may be best for the sake of the DT. but the nem tank may be the best option for overall appeal. all three good options

Could do a refugium with nems... or refugium with lion fish

Cut out baffels on the old sump and scrapped all the coralline algae and montipora off the display. Left the tanks on the deck and now they are a quarter full from thunderstorms last night.

I have decided that I will drill the 75 on one of the smaller sides and install the prototype ghost overflow that was made for the 180. It is just sitting there in my "fish stuff" box and I don't think I will ever use it for anything else. This time I am going to build the external overflow box to be more shallow than the previous attempt. I will also only be using 1 inch holes and plumbing for the Bean Animal style drain. The inch and a half I used on the 180 was overkill. I haven't decided if I will put the tank up against the wall or have it stick out "peninsula" style. I am leaning more traditional because the way the stand is built but, I can always modify the stand. The lights have goose necks for them but I can just as easily hang them from the ceiling. It may just come down to how it looks when I put the tanks back in the stand.

Nice. I agree the 1" drains will be more than enough. I used 1" on my 180 and its more than enough and thats with 2000 to 2500 gph flowing through it. As for how to set it up, if it was rimless then I would go peninsula because I love a peninsula tank personally how it can be viewed from both larger sides. But even with a rim it would still be nice. Now it depends on if the coraline algae or monti that was on the glass etched the glass at all. I know that the 180 I picked up had a little bit of etching on the back wall but wasn't too bad luckily.
