I purchased a 250 Deep Dimension from a fellow reefer and will be moving it in a couple of weeks. I was planning on changing the light from a 36" LED to 3 Kessil A360we's and then a couple of T5's for the edges. Anyone have Kessil's over a Deep Dimension?

If you're going with the WEs, 2 should be fine for a mixed reef as they each provide decent 24x24 coverage. Just make sure to mount/hang them as high as possible and keep your SPS towards the middle 3 feet of the tank, probably in the upper half as well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The difficulty is that with a tank that deep you won't get a lot of light for corals at the bottom unless your Kessils are right off the water, but if they're right off the water you will have shadows at the top of the tank. Ideally hang them high enough above the water to avoid the shadows at the top, then just plan on keeping low light corals at the bottom. How wide is the tank? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

With 36" front to back I don't think the 3 Kessils will cut it, unless you mount them closer to the front and just deal with the back of your tank not getting much light Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah.. seeing the dimensions I think you'd want to do a T5 strip in front, the Kessils over the middle and another T5 strip in back. I will likely be supplementing my Kessils with a few T5s as well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So over my 4x2x2 foot tank how high would you set the mounting bars.... I know closer to water gives more par but also hurts spread. Guess I have to find that middle ground. I may end up building a canopy and doing two T5 in front and two in the back with the 360we in the middle of the tank

My new 270G tank under 6 Kessil A360WEs. I've got some temporary plumbing going on thus the water level in the tank is a little lower than it should be, and it's really loud....but it's aquascaped (except for frag placement) and everything is doing well since the transfer from my 110G. I am thinking about upgrading my Chinese LEDs to 3 of the 160s for my 92 corner bowfront. Is that enough?

I don't think that would be enough if you're keeping corals. For bigger tanks you really need the 360s Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Very cool. I'm thinking of doing something similar. How did you mount those Kessils in there? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Finishing my T5/360W rack tonight. Very similar setup with four dimmable T5's and removing 2 of the 4 Kessils to balance things out.
Congrats! Looks great... |

I used 3 straps of metal (leftovers from cutting the T5 fixture down the center) that were roughly 3/4" wide and 2 1/2" long per opening. Attached pointing down towards the tank evenly spaced around the opening. Dropped the Kessil through the hole and used a large hose clamp to wrap around the Kessil and the 3 straps...simple. Just make sure the Kessil holes are just big enough to stow the wires back through and run them inside the T5 fixture.
