I loaded someones project. I believe I still have the files. I took them from a projects folder that was floating around called "great barrier reef" I believe. I run them at 60%

very nice!

I was going to get the lx6200 before the lx7 came out. I saw the pics of others using that project and it sure looks like the corals drink it up. I'm wondering if that project would still be good for the lx7.

The LX7 uses UV diodes in place of white diodes on one of the channels which if memory serves me correctly is channel 8. As such, it would likely need to be tweaked for the LX7. You could increase the existing white channel a bit to compensate for the missing white channel and play with the UV channel to your liking.

thanks Slief. I'm sure after the 7 has been out for a while, the projects will come.

I'm looking forward to getting mine set up. The wait continues!

Happy Reefing

My new Mitras LX7's just arrived and they are beautiful!!!!! I see a big lighting upgrade in my future. I am very excited now! I got my brackets made for my light rack and articulating mounts for the Mitras. I will start planning my lighting upgrade this weekend. We will be filming the install and setup for an LA Fish Guys Episode. Stay tuned!

I have been looking for some good LPC files for successful SPS tanks. I have compiled a list of 22 projects and uploaded them to my Google Drive, but do not have much info on them. I created a thread in the GHL forum and figured I would link to it from here.

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=2607871

If anyone has some good LPC files please let me know and I will add them to the folder. Also if you have any details on the current projects I could also update those.

Greetings all, looking for some help as I just picked up 3 Mitras 6200 from another reefer and this is my first foray into the LED realm. Currently running a ATI 8 bulb Sunpower and although I am happy with the light I'm just looking for something different. But I am a bit overwhelmed by the whole programming process. If someone can point me to a link or offer any advice it would be appreciated. Also, what is my best mounting option? I have the hanging kits but I think I would like something a little cleaner looking.

Does anybody know how to edit the photoperiod? The great barrier reef project runs for over 11 hours I believe..

just got mine set up yesterday and loaded the GBR project as well. It was at 100% so I lowered the values to 60% until i get a feel for this thing. Went home at lunch and looked at the tank and it looks really good but i will bump up the intensity to 75% in a couple days. I'm not really savy yet with the control center yet but I changed my values easily by highlighting each spectrum on the project graph and clicked edit, then changed and saved each individually. After that just run program to lights and shazam! I would imagine the run time is in there too and can be tweeked. Someone here that knows better than me should chime in (hopefully). GHL's forum is not the most active forum for sure so it should be quicker here.

I'm blown away with how small this fixture is (almost the size of a thick ipad) and how sleek it looks.

Tivo

They're amazing lights. I am pretty disappointed that the hanging kit is extra...but whatever..lol

It would be cool to collectively make the GBR project the best one we can all use. I wish I was fluent in control center but theres a lot I don't know..

I hear ya!

last night was my first foray into the control center and it's a bit intimidating at first but I started catching on, then ran out of time to play more. I agree, the hanging kit should come with the light. It's such a basic kit!! It looks nice on mine except the darn power cord location is a bit of a pain. to get mine level i secured it with adhesive zip tie tabs up the back of the tank and set the slack in the cord to keep the fixture level & squared. I may get tired of the look after a while and probably will get the bracket, but for now it looks nice to me. I'll get some pictures up after I'm happy with how everything looks.

I have it running at 40% on efficiency and it's crazy bright. I don't think we are using the lights full potential with a project built for the 6200.. I may be wrong. It would be nice for someone that knows more to chime in.

Actually, the 6200 project works pretty well. That's what I used on the one over my frag tank. I did some minor tweaks to it particularly on channel 8 where the white channel is now the UV channel. I started with a 21,000k project and made the changes to that. Having said that, if you take it out of high efficiency mode which limits the max intensity to 80 % and put it in high output mode which allows you to take any channel to 100% or overdrive channels if others are underdriven, there is obviously much more power at your disposal. That said, I don't see many people ever needing to run these lights at that kind of output. They are insanely powerful without ever cranking them up that high. The only reason I could ever see running them with most of the channels at 100% would be if the light was a couple feet or more above the water. Even then, that would be a lot of light.

That said, I am starting off with all the blue channels at about the same intensity. There is some variance there but it's mostly preference. I anticipate around 60% as a final number for most of the blues. White channels will peak at about 20%. UV will likely be around 20% Red around 15% and green around 15%. That is about what i am running over my frag tank and the corals responded really well and the colors look good.

I finally got my Mitras LX7206's are installed!! The install went very smooth thanks to good planning. We filmed the entire install and even dedicated an entire part of the episode to software setup and basic programming. The install will be featured in an episode of LA Fish Guys Tech Talk and should serve as a good step by step video for setting up the Mitras.

I still have work to do on the lighting project (programming) as I am starting with minimal intensity in order to acclimate my corals slowly to the new lighting. I dropped the intensity on my Kessils some and will take my time with the adjustments so as to acclimate the tank to the new lights and wean it off the Kessils. I have to say that the color of the corals under the Mitras is absolutely stunning! Given my experience with the Mitras on my other tanks, I knew what to expect but seeing the tank under the new lights is still shocking.

Here are some pictures of the install. There are 6 of the LX7206's over my 4' x 8' x 2' tall tank and with the Mitras alone, the coverage is pretty impressive.

Make sure you also ordered the hanging kits because unlike the 6200 they're not included a GHL uses a gaggle of donkeys for shipping.
