Then I'm confused. You mentioned they only work with 360s but you show a 160 in the pictures

The articulating mount only works with the 360's. I don't really like the goose neck so I made a mount out of 8020 for my 160.

The articulating mount allows you to better aim the 360.

Why does it only work with the 360? Doesn't it mount the same way?

The mount I made out of the 8020 will work with either light.

Ok. So which articulating mount you say DOESN'T work with the 160 and only with the 360?

What's your Kessil lighting schedule? What works best for growing and color of corals?

I am guessing kessil a160we and a360we can be controlled on the same circuit through a controller. I want to use the 160 to fill in for some of the shading.. The Kessil a360we have been amazing on my tank except for some shading.

I'm looking at going the Kessil route to light a very large tank, I'm curious what kind of spread people have gotten from mounting them high above the tank, such as 24" above the surface? It would be a predator tank, so I do not need high par out of them. I'm looking at the A160WE.

I had one person claim 2' high I could probably get a decent amount of light over a 48x48" area. Does it sound like there is any truth to this? I know I would get shadows on the bottom depending on the scaping, but that isn't an issue. With no coral I'm not worried about it being even, just enough to see the fish and look good.

If you contact Kessil they will tell you what you can get away with. They are really good about that stuff !!

Wish I could help. I have 3-360WE's over my 67 gallon tank, so I definitely have good coverage !! Lol

Dang, that is a lot of coverage! I wish I could afford to just buy plenty and have a couple different sets running, but on a 1000+ gal tank things add up a bit too quickly.

For a FO you can get by with surprisingly little. I don't know about 48x48 spread from the A160, but for reference we light our 700g FO systems at work (10'x3'x3') with three 165w cheapo LED units (basically Mars Aqua with no optics). And they're only dialed up to 75% power or so.

Ok, that may be worded a bit badly lol. But when you go the plywood route it sucks to spend double what you did on the tank in lighting alone lol

Thanks for the thoughts! Yeah I really don't need it bright at all. Biggest thing is that I want control via either an app or controller and some sort of sunrise/sunset effect, otherwise I'd go with a much cheaper route and just on/off. I'm also considering Radions but even two feet up they are saying I should go with five of the XR15s. Bit much for me lol

The tank is almost always one of the cheapest part of the build.

I will stick with Kessil for your predator tank. The shimmer this lights produce does not compare to any other LED our in the market and I feel that a predator tank looks cooler on the dark side with a lot of caves and crannies.

Im currently collecting parts etc for a 50 gallon half round Softie/Lps tank (35.4"across the back, 19.6 inches front to back at furthest point and 23.5 inches top to bottom...empty) would 2 150/160s be enough? thanks in advance!

That's a ton of light 8x T5' + 3 Kessil A350/360 + 2 Reefbrites. Tank doesn't even look that full to need that much of light. Have your got par readings?

It's still a really large tank though.
