I can't tell ya what ratio to go with cause I don't know your liking I can tell you idont care for any of there ratio too much on aliexpress the only one I've seen that's even decent is the 30 blues 25whites and I don't even really like the sound of that for my liking. I think any of these ratios would look good

34blues 17 whites 4 violets
33blues 18 whites 4 violets
31 blues 20 white 4 violets

You can always do just 2 violets and add one more white and one more blue to any of these ratios
Thanks Travis. I'm going to stick with your original recommendation of 34 B, 17 W, 4 V combo.

I just ordered these off Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s00_i00

they are the 3W Led's, and the blue and white are each individually dimmable, with a 2 year warranty 120 watts ... $180 shipped

I thought I'd give these a try, anyone used these before ? I'll post a review once I get them if anyone's interested ..

I just ordered the D 120w with 30 blue and 25 white for my 30g LPS tank. If all goes well I'll purchase 2 more for my 120g SPS tank.

I was thinking of getting 2 - A6 for the 120g. Do you think that is too much for a 4x2x2 tank? My thought was that I can always turn the lights down. Or do you think the A4 or D 120w would be fine?

Also, when I purchased I just used the Buy Now button and filled out the form. I sent an email too but got no response. I did however get an email that said Payment successfully made with an order number. Do you think everything is fine, or do I really need to contact Sam?

nIf you got the standard ratio should be no need to email sam you should be set

As for your 120tank its all your preference... If your tank wasn't 24 wide id say 2 d120 would be pleanty but not sure how well it would cover 24" of width I know it covers my 18" wide tank good. Worst case you could get 3 d120s and run them front to back instead of longways left to right... Put one every 16 inches and you would be set and it would prob me cheaper then 2 a6

According to sam the 90 degree lenses are very similar spread wise to the 120 degrees but the 90 penatrate better(which would be better for coral growth and keeping clams in the sand happy) so to same the 90s are better.

I trust sams word so don't be scared to go with 90s I don't think uoull be disappointed

Hey all,
I just placed an order for these:

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/54...ium_light.html

I got the cool whites changed to neutral whites with a leg kit and shipping was $227. I liked the three dimmable switches and they were more than willing to customize colors. I havent received it yet (Just ordered on Friday and they had to customize with the neutrals) but am excited and will let you all know what it looks like.

This is for a BC29 if it matters.

Jason

Here's my A6 on my 39" tank

Sorry for the poor pic quality, really hard to get a good picture with LEDs on an iPad. Corals are a mad from alk swing from bad batch of salt.

Will post more pics later with different intensity of blues and whites.

Looks great!

It also looks like two A6's could eventually cover my 120 gallon 72" tank, based on the spread you are getting over your 39"

I have a question. I bought an LED fixture off of ebay before I found this thread. I saw that it had a heatsink and that the LEDs were 3w being ran at 2w. The fixture looks almost identical to the Nova A4. Same 4 circular clusters just different air exhaust ducts and its not dimmable. The problem is that it is insanely powerful. I bought it Thinking it would be just a pretty good light and it has exceeded my expectations. I have it 21" above the tank and I still get 200 - 350 par at the sand bed. The tank is an 18" cube and I keep mainly zoanthids and they are pretty ticked right now. I have cut the white lights down to 3hrs and will add an hr every other week. I would like to put a couple dimmable ballasts in there but I have no idea how, or which ones to get. I do not really care about controlling with the reef keeper that I have just want to be able to tone it down a little. Does anyone have any suggestions? These are the lights I got

Feature:
1. Newest cooling system, revolutionary heat dissipation design, greatly alleviate the internal thermal cycle, 10-15 Celsius lower than its precursor in performance.
2. Brand new technology in fans will be more long-lived, decreasing 50% noise than its precursor.
3. Built with 60℃ Second optical lenses, the illumination is 15 times than the universal version in the market.
4. Using high quality EPI 3W LED light.
5. Can 100% reach or even exceed rated powers.
6. Modular assembling is much more convenient for maintaining and repairing, can replace LED or power individually. No glue and glass.
7. Intelligent monitor system, ensure the whole equipment in a good working state and automatically alarming for breakdown.
8. Using advanced isolated power driver, UL standard output voltage which is lower than 45V DC. Soft starting protection to avoid the transient currents impact, effectively protecting the LEDs from high voltage damage.
9. 85 to 264V AC power input, 50/60HZ working frequency, suitable for global residential energy environment.
10. Aluminum drawbench face shield design, compared with traditional glass shield, better heat dissipation; shockproof and fall resistance.
11. Strict quality assurance system, 3-year warranty
a) Double aging test
Semi-finished products aging 12 hours
Finished product aging 12 hours
b) Power stamping test, etc
12. Our 7th generation LED grow light is applied for several patents, including
l Appearance: lens structure design
l Heat dissipation structure: air inlet, air duct, air outlet patented design
l Drive structure: modular design intelligent detection, monitoring status, automatic alarming for breakdown etc.

2. 2 power cord system: 1 Cord controls the White LEDs and 1 Cord controls the blue LEDs
3. Wide beam angle: 60 degree, LED’s light is downwards directly and wide beam angle help confirm uniform coverage, you don’t need to buy additional bulky reflector like MH.
4. No cooling fee: LED is cold lighting which runs much cooler than standard florescent and metal halides and 3 built-in cooling fans help cool down the lamp very well, you don’t need to buy additional expensive cooling system
5. Lifetime : The high power 3w LED convert electric energy into light directly, there is no filament to break on led, so they could be more durable and nearly no maintenance, you don’t need to replace the bulbs frequently like MH/Fluorescent.
6. Built-in CE approval 97% efficiency Power supply, plug and play, no need heavy ballast as MH and fluorescent which will inefficient and burnout finally.

12. For use of fish tank lighting, seaweed cultivation, coral, fish, etc.
13. For most of the aquatic creatures; turn on blue light at night to enjoy a fantastic visual effect on coral, halobios and fish, etc.
14. Do not touch or knock at the product when it’s on operation.
15. Non waterproof, stay away from water.

Sorry if this has already been covered but its a very long thread. I tried skimming but I didnt see anything. Thanks in advance
John

None of them are yet. The first one will be the Maxspect Razor coming out in July. That one will be around $480.

I did a write up in this thread on a wall bracket I made. Others are putting it on rails in their canopies, some from the ceiling, etc.

I'm in the middle of a driver replacement right now. It won't be simple.

You'll need to open the lights and see what kind of led drivers they are using. If they are not labeled with voltage and current, don't even bother swapping them. It is similar to my A4 unit, but may be wired differently and use different drivers.

You will need to closely match the voltage of the drivers on your replacement ones. The current will need to be similar too. It would have to be a dimming driver, and you would need to solder a potentiometer onto each one. Then, on top of that, you'll need to rewire the fans onto their own outlet, because they use some kind of voltage regulator pcb that I haven't figured out yet to power the fans through the drivers.

You're better off just selling the light if you can and re-ordering a dimmable one. Its so much easier, and it would cost nearly $100 in parts to do it yourself.

Unless you're very good at re-wiring things, I don't recommend doing the driver swap to 0-10v dimmable drivers.

I got everything wired in, but its a complete mess inside. I'm still not done, and this is with 3 hours of work into it. I also stripped one of the ac wires, so I have to rewire that, which is gonna take even more time. I also chose to solder wires after using wire nuts, as the wire nuts weren't holding that great. What a mess. The amount of work just wasn't worth it for me.

I ordered a reef builders? fixture, but I'll have to wait 2 weeks for it. Going to see which fixture I like better, and then move one to my 120 gallon.

I'm hoping the Evergrow guys release a true 0-10v Apex dimmable fixture soon.

I like the ratio you wanted so could you please post your custom link here when you get it? Thanks.
