Has anyone taken the can housing off their Kessil A160WE? Is it a standard, philips, alan or torx? I'm referring to the little screws attaching the outer can to the inside components.

It's an allen head screw. I take my A36owe's apart several times a year for cleaning. Take your time and don't force anything.

Thanks, Home Depot didn't carry anything that small. I found an allen wrench that fit at Lowes. It was part of an electronics kit and was size .9 I don't know if they can make anything smaller.

Hey guys!

I have a thread going on in the sps forum for lighting suggestions, please pop on over there, or chime in here.

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=2604045

which kessils and how many would you all recommend for lighting a 8' x 30W x 24"H peninsula display?

In this installation, the white blocks are not even used.

Hi everyone.

Given my tank is only 16" in depth, how high should I mount my A360WE above the water surface? Currently I set the light in 65% color and 5% intensity. 6" above the water. The light is super bright and shines beautifully on every corals. My tank is mainly for LPS. I am a newbie to Kessil.

Thx

hey guys,

on an 8' long tank, 30"W x 24"H peninsula, I would think 2 rows of 3, or 2 rows of 4...

but how high above the waterline should I mount them for coverage?

I have them mounted 4.75" above the water and they easily cover beyond the 18" width of my standard 75g.

40b. 2 a160WE about 9" off the water. Had my friend who works at a metal shop bend 90° Metal arms to hang them from, powder coated them. I run a 14 hour schedule with a slow ramp from 6am to 1pm peaking out at 85 intensity and 70 color then from 4pm to 8pm a ramp back down.

For those with a Kessil controller, are color and intensity the only options, other than acclimation?

Is it safe to say that 100% color is full blue and as close to actinic or the black light effect that the Kessil can put out?

I use an Apex and am using a pair of 160s to supplement MH and T5. I only need them to help bring out the fluorescence in my corals.

100% color is 10,000 K. 0% is basically actinic / royal blue. Id say 20,000k is somewhere in the 30-40% range. That's my visual analysis but I have not looked at a 20,000k MH in a long time.

Kessil A360 Bracket

Hey Guys-

I'm wondering if you guys can help me out. I purchased a A360 with the gooseneck from a friend of mine recently. However I wanted to use the 90 degree adapter for a cleaner look but it seams that he doesn't have it

I've looked all over the internet and it seams to be one of those pieces that comes with the gooseneck. Does anyone have a spare they would sell or do you think Kessil would sell that part alone?

You're looking for the A series 90° adapter; they're sold separately and run about $20. If you're looking for the bracket in your attachment (not the 90° adapter), it comes with the goose neck. You could get one from Kessil if you contact them I'm sure.

Thanks madwezal. Yes, I'm looking for the bracket itself that comes with the gooseneck. I did get the adapter and sent out an email to Kessil to see if I can get a bracket so hopefully they can get me one.

This is nice and all but why didn't you just use the canopy mounts from premium aquatics?

FYI for anyone having issues with any Kessil light requiring a 3.5mm phono m/m plug to hook up to the Spectral controller. If you get any saltwater on any part of the 3.5mm plug which leads to corrosion you will be forced to purchase a new 3.5mm plug. The corrosion will interfere with the signal and you're lights will not hold your settings. Doesn't matter where the corrosion is either.

I learned this by finding out why my A360's were super blue in color at noon when I have it set to a more white color.

Any thoughts on running 2 Kessil AP700's on a 120 Brick? I will be setting up for SPS and Maxima Clams. With the Tank being 48 x 24 x 24 would these lights be enough to put the SPS at any depth and have good growth?

That link isnt working for me but I'm going to assume these are to mount inside the canopy. If I did so, the light would be at the water surface.
