gorey they are #3's my lps dont like any more flow than that. i tried mj mods but the polyp extension was not as good.
mojo the skimmer is breaking in really nice. it does take awhile to bounce back after feeding but that will probably get better after it is fully broke in.

O.K. I talked to jermey this morning he said he will have a new one to my house by monday. He is also going to send a prepaid box 2 send the wrong one back in. I'm glad i bought this from PA and not off of ebay or something like that. PA makes it easy when something comes up like this. I can't say enough about PA and their customer service, its great!!(I just hope i get the right cup this time.J?K.)

I’ve decided to order the In-100 for my 40 breeder/20high sump. Looks like I’ll be joining the club soon.

My sump section is 10" do you think that is to deep that I would have to make a 1" or 2" stand? Is there some rule where deeper equals dry or wet skim?

you will need to. I have posted this several times in my review of the skimmer. at 10" the skimmer will do nothing but overflow. 1 inch will not be enough. you will need to go to at least 8 inches if not 7.

about 2" below the top of the bubble plate is full of bubbles. so basically the top half of the body plus the entire diffuser chamber is solid white.

i just set up a 250 on a 175 frag system,, seems to be working well,, i was waiting for all the noise,, but it didnt come,, is the pump a sedra knockoff,, looks like s sedra 9 to me,, skimmer is full of foam from plate up, definitely had to lower sump though,, was 8-9 inches,, now 7-8 and working fine,, so far so good

Well I can tell you one thing I've learned from this thread, I don't think I could deal with married life too long I don't know how you guys do it...I now feel very grateful that if I want to buy something I'm able to just buy it.

But now for my real reason for checking out the thread

This is exactly what I was looking for. I read through the MSX forum and all I could think was what a major pia. Honestly there's enough other stuff to worry about other than constantly messing around with your skimmer IMO (granted I haven't been in the hobby that long).

I'm sure I'll be joining the club soon. Just have to research it a little further because I've bought many of the components in my system to only replace them with something better in a short while and it's getting expensive.

Any other skimmers that might be slightly more money that would be worth investigating before I plop down a couple bills?

Check out this thread http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...readid=1518115 I also felt the same way you did about the octos. I dont want to be taking a pump apart a messing with mesh all the time. Thats why i bought the vertex, It seems like its a set it and forget it comparded to the others skimmire in the same price range.

gorey - thanks for the link
mojo - thanks for taking the time to review the different skimmers, it's extremely helpful

Due to the research I've been doing and mojo's slightly higher rating of the octo extreme 200 I think I'm going with that although the price is almost $100 more.

So to not jack this thread any further please see the following link...

Due to responses from my other post maybe I will do the vertex 100. Octo extreme 200 is way overkill for 55 gallons. And back to the topic of this thread, I may still be joining the club soon.
