Lightbulb A couple questions....

To the suggestion about pre printing labels....that would save time but for the sake of fairness, please make sure the label is slightly smaller than the ticket and fully affixed to the ticket so they don't cause multiple tickets to get stuck together.

I'll say it...that could cause a sticky situation....

How great would a self inking micro stamp be for this? You would be a raffle ticket super hero if you had a custom stamp??!!

To the concern about the cooler, no issue provided its not full of anything illegal

I've schlepped corals in coolers in and out of the casino in the past with no issues. I think it's better than just a bag-o-coral, as it will reduce the chance is leaking....

Yep, I carry a soft cooler around with me in my truck along with some cheap hand warmers my wife got me in case of long transports and or delays. Works like a charm!

To hold all the cool coral you are going to buy and keep them at a safe temp for an extended period of time

Thumbs up $5 Discounted entry

The BOD has decided that we will give you $5 off the entry if you bring a non perishable food item. Thanksgiving is around the corner people can use the help so bring an item get $5 off bringing the cost to $25 this way we all save.

Alperry, I have a clean styrofoam shipping box in perfect condition if you want it for free. Snag a few cheap hand warmers and packing tape and you'll like a delivery guy with just a box. I'll bring it for anyone else who wants it, but you get first dibs.

Exclamation Hurricane Sandy! We have had to make some minor changes!

So some of you folks may have heard through the grapevine that there might just be a “Frankenstorm” coming. * But not to CMAC – at least I’m still a hopeless romantic!

This storm has caused two of our original speakers to politely decline from coming on Sunday due to the potential for really bad and quite possibly dangerous traveling conditions. Some hurricane track models have CT as close to the area of landfall, but we just don’t know for sure.

Both Murray Camp and Christine Williams let me know yesterday (Friday, while I was insurance continuing education class) about their concerns of potentially having to travel poor weather. I told them to do what’s best and that safety is first.

James was able to have great luck with Marc Levinson to chat on our behalf. And a quick call to Justin Credabel resulted in another speaker.
Lastly, just prior to their meet and greet, the gentlemen Wayde King and Brett Raymer will give us a quick 30 minute background talk about who theyare, what they do, etc.
So, as of right now (Saturday the 27th at 9:53 AM) our schedule of events is as follows:

8:00-8:30 Conference Opens – Registration Table Opens

8:30-9:00 Vendor Room Opens

9:00-10:00 Steven Pro Presentation / Vendor Room Opens [1 hour]

10:00-10:15 Steven ProQ/A Session [15 mins]

10:15-10:30 Break [15 mins]

10:30-11:30 Marc Levinson Presentation [1 hour]

11:30-11:45 Marc Levinson Q/A Session [15 mins]

11:45-1:00 Lunch Break [1 hour, 15 mins]

1:00-1:45 Justin Credebel Presentation [45 min]

1:45-2:15 Wayde and Brett from Acrylic Tank Manufacturing ATM also from the hit TV show

'Tanked' will do a quick talk and then our meet and Session [30 mins]

2:15-4:15 Meet the Stars of 'Tanked'[2 hours]

4:15-5:00 Club Raffle [45 mins]

5:00 Conference Close -Thank you all so very much

NEW BIOS:

Again, to the best of my ability:

Marc Levinson:

"Sumps 101"

Everything you need to know to make and informed decision.

This topic covers everything conceivable to planning and installing a sump, including plumbing, electrical, tank stands, sump layouts, refugiums, lighting, evaporated water top off, and what to avoid..

Justin Credebel:

Goniopora Care and Hydrogen Peroxide Use:

A review of Goniopora care, including system care, installing a system deshings, species requirements, and feeding.

Also a primer on hydrogen peroxide an its use for pest revmoal and algae control.

I hope this information helps!

Do you guys think heat packs will be needed for our coolers for the frags? So far I have not used them when going to meetings etc but this will be a much longer time period. Just wondering what everyone was planning on doing.

I usually don't do heat packs if its gonna be around 60 outside. If it's gonna be 50 or less that day I'd bring one with me, just in case. But you'll mostly be walking around inside. Which is probably heated. Also depends on how long you plan on staying, if you park far away etc.

Moral of the story, can't hurt to have one. You can always just not use it. If I find any while I'm out today, I'll bring a few extras as well.

I'm with Collin on this. Just because you might not need it doesn't mean you probably shouldn't take one. Its always better to be prepared rather than losing $100+ in new corals because you didn't want to have a small lump in your pocket. I will also be bringing a few just in case.

If you stop by the MASNA booth and renew (or create a new) membership, you will get a MASNA notebook (limit to the 1st 20).

Also, CTARS (and MASNA) have recently become involved with The Coral Restoration Foundation. If you ask to see what is going on (and how you can help), we will give you a MASNA glass scraper.

Everyone attending should park in the Riverview garage, and take the east elevator to the convention center.

Anyone coming to this swap-

1. you want to park on the 5th floor at the Riverview parking garage. There's more parking on the 5th floor.

2. Parking on the east side of the Riverview garage is prefered so you can come down the east side elevator which will put you in the same building as the swap. Park anywhere else and you'll have to walk a lot.

3. The swap will be in the conference center in the sky casino. There are three casino wings. Look for the sky casino.
