not quite sure I follow.
However to give you some more insight, the difference I believe with the GHL Mitras is in the reflector and how it effects the LED output and spectrum, have a look at Rodneys spectograph comparing with an Ati T5 fixture that will give you a lot of insight as to why the SPS are doing so damn well. There are also other users having the same outcome with the Mitras, this is not a unique situation.

I currently use an LED/T5 system, and get good colour. On paper, the Mitras is pretty good. I suppose in time as other users add photos we shall see. |

So I guess now its about spectrum and not intensity? Only time will tell what and how these fancy $1100 light fixtures will turn out. Sorry I just am not a believer at this time and yes it looks great and I am sure people will have great success with them. I have been reading for days about led lighting vs MH and t12 vho lighting. I really like the led lighting but I don't think for my 30 x 30. X 31 tank it will ever work for me. What happens if an led should go bad is there a warranty on it? I just can't find myself spending that much money on lights. I have 400watt ballast and 150watts vho and it cost me less then $450 for me it's about the cost. Hey who knows maybe you can make me a believer can you post a picture of a single fixture on a deep tank like mine?
Sorry for the slight derail but I have been sucked into so much from the place that now I question everything before spending $$$$$$$ my hard earned cash. I need more proof that's all. I live in New York area is there a place were I can see one in operation first? I promise to post the truth about what I see.

Yep spectrum is as important as intensity, you will likely only use 75% of the available intensity to be honest.
YES the unit has a two year warranty and 100% client serviceable so you never have to send the unit in for repair. But GHL are not really known for going wrong to be honest The saving comes vs MH on power useage and bulb replacement also. without knowing the depth of your tank its hard to evaluate. Over 36" and SPS on the bottom yes you will struggle.

not only do these unit look insane on paper...they deliver...and are more impressive in person...ghl and the Mitras is the real deal...customer support is beyond terrific, more often than not- they piclup the phone or call you right back...to the naysayers I say, those new fangled powerheads cant be nearly as good as my undergravel....hehe...

rodney, the tank looks great!!
post more pics anytime.. trueblackpercula, it obviously isn't light alone, that will make sps look amazing, but with proper water conditions and the right light; covering the proper spectrum and delivering the appropriate intensity, sps will respond well. rodney's tank is not the only sps under led that looks fantastic, granted, they are few and far between, but it think this latest generation of led light fixtures is finally getting it right. I am an old school reefer, I started with the t12 phillips daylight and actinic bulbs, then went to the best mh bulb ever, the Iwasaki 65k. Ive since gone through every t5 and mogul or de mh bulb and have stayed away from led for the exact same reason you have. But I honestly think the wait is over, these mitras deliver exactly what the corals need. Are they the only led fixture in the world to make sps happy? no, but they do the job better than most. Perhaps the best... I am going to put 3 mitras over my next tank.

Under gravel filters still work my friend but I am more concerned about it working long term and LED is supposed to more cost affective not a pretty looking hood that most set ups have them hidden away in a canopy or behind walls like my set up. There is no questions it's nice but does it work on deep tanks that's what I need to know before spending $1100 bucks on LEDs

just not fully enclosed...I am hiding mine behind a wood fixture that will allow them breathe and provide space for the ballasts and power cords- though the one side with the killer led screen, controls, and usb port will be open...my tank is 30 deep...it is true they are an investment imo well worth it... |

Hello to all, this one is my first post in this forum, I am useful to appear, to comment to you that it makes a new project small and begun, cm treats itself about an aquarium Xaqua of 80x50x50 besides the profilux and installed one mitras with led UV and because of it and decided to register in this forum since in my country there is no a lot of information since they have put recently to the sale.
I leave a link you with a video and a photo of the aquarium, this list to start introducing animals, wait you like it and wanting to learn of this forum... Thank you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z_sqfrlaEE&feature=plcp |

Hope not it would bleach the heck out of anything, unless just for demo. At that depth 50% is all that is needed. However Mitras has no hot spots, its even spread

So the picture shown is only 40% of light LEDs full capacity?

Yaris, first of all thank you for posting and please continue to post. Don't let people taking cheap shots discourage your desire to post information. Some people like to just poke fun at others or plain just don't understand that other languages are spoken differently than ours. So welcome to rc and please post about your experiences with mitras good or bad. Alot of us actually do care about people have to say to base decisions on what direction they might go with products.

I have joined the Mitras club and am running one unit over my 100x100x50 tank and it has replaced a ATI 39wx10 fixture.
Have had it on for 1 week so far. Initial thoughts were wow shimmers crazy but have adjusted to it now. Program seemed pretty hard at first but am starting to get use to it now. All corals are going well with greens starting to get a bit deeper colouration. Time will tell how the rest react |
