90 degree optics. They can be added to the d120 too for a little more. The d120 covers a much wider area without optics. With optics it would increase in brightness but lose its spread.

For a tank like Travis' (39" length?), not having optics works better for him, as he can have 1 d120 cover the whole tank. For a 24" nano like mine, lots of light is wasted and spills out without optics.

oh..ok.
I understand what you are saying. I didn't know your tank was 24" .

I'm working with a 40 breeder 36" wide. The link you provided for the ( in bulk D120 with reds & greens ) looks like what I was looking for. Is this the same company you ordered yours from> if so , how long did it take to recieve it?

Thanks for all your input & pic posting

I haven't seen how warm whites blend yet, so I don't know for sure. Maybe 4 violet 420nm instead of 1 ww on dimmer 2? Could look really good. WW and Violet would help bring out reds, oranges, and a bit more coloring. WW is very yellow, so having the same CW or more is a good idea.

I have a Chinese 60 watt Cree fixture. The first thing I did when I got it was take it apart and inspect it to see if they are real Cree LEDs. The look the part but they are not on star boards so it is hard to actually tell. Either way the fixture is working really well for all of my SPS. At first it was too much so I had to reduce my photoperiod and slowly amp up the lights. I also removed the glass on mine. The fixture is about 18" above the water and the water is 12" deep. Most of my SPS frags are about half-way up. I would recommend this fixture to anybody keeping any kind of coral.

Reefbreeders just buys them from alibaba.com like we are doing. They are in the US and I ordered from them. Originally they said they could do Apex dimming with the drivers it came with, which I questioned, and it turns out they can't. That was why I originally ordered it.

I'm using it as a temp light while testing a different pair of drivers on the Nova, and then eventually upgrading it to Cree leds. I might sell it off at some point, or keep it for my 120 gallon cichlid tank that will eventually be FOWLR.

This is basically the same thing for less money. This one even has moonlights. The Chinese companies ship via DHL overnight and it comes within 3 days.

They're real. You can try to look at a Cree XPG or XPE spec sheet and see if the led emitters look the same.

All of these 3w fixtures work really well so far as an alternative to Halides and T5s, and as an alternative to the fancier, more expensive fixtures on the market.

I know many have mentioned the Apollo Reef LED fixture and I just posted a full review of the fixture in this section of RC a bit ago. Feel free to share your opinions as I've been pleased with the month I have had the fixture.

I'm having some, and I believe it's the language barrier, problems with Hendy and my d120. I ordered one with 24 blue 4 uv 27 white. I got 28 blue/27 white. I've tried to explain this but he's just not getting it. He even sent a copy of the order which state the 4 violet leds and I paid 180 something for it. I hope I can get this worked out. It did get here awful fast.

This is the best option for Apex users out there so far, with a decent price. Great review!

I know the guy linked at the bottom of the page at Prestige Reefs. He is a good guy who live near me. Those Pharos are really nice and have all the goodies that the Radions have. They are bit pricier than the Novas and D120s though. Still, well below the Echotechs. He just started selling these (after I had purchased lights). Any warranty is taken care of by him.

I've seen at least 2 or 3 people whose order got messed up in dealing with hendy... Id say deal with sam only no offense to hendy.

My tank is 36" close enough bhazard lol and mine it in a canopy and the inside of my canopy is white so any spillage is kept in the canopy and if anything reflected back in the tank...

Same lights and closer to California for you. The owner used to work on corporate jets with me years ago, then left to start a business. We have an area facebook group and he is always helping people out, often driving to their houses to lend his time and support. He just started selling these about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Several people that have bought them are very happy. They are more expensive than the novas or d120s but they use Cree 3w and 5w LEDs and have a lot of programmable features including a remote control to adjust lighting. The guys name is Randy and he will take care of all warranty work (if needed) without shipping the units to China.

My d120 is 5" above the rim of the tank that is about 5 3/4" above the water and i don't have any overspill like that at all. and my tank is 30"x12" and 18" deep.

I think you have that d120 way too high. But i see you are lowering it.

And being you can put the d120 lower to the water it is great for putting in a canopy.

That is really good to know. The only problem is, if I get two of these, it will put me way out of my price range. Thx. for the info.

The US Apollo Solarbrite needs a controller like the Apex to work. So far, thats the best option for Apex users.

The Cidly Apollo light from china is just a Nova that doesn't have a dimmer. Having a dimmer is one of the better reasons of using leds.
