Ph buffer
I have tested my water and have noticed a pattern. I have been dosing with Tropic Marin Bio-Calcium and Bio-Magnesium. My parameters are as follows:
Calcium- 400-405ppm, Magnesium- 1300-1350, DKH-8.5, Alk- 3.10, PH- 7.9 to 8.0. Problem: I can not seem to keep my PH steady. I have tested with lights off and on and the difference if any is not detectable. This is using Salifert Test Kits. What should I do if all other parameters are okay but PH always stays at 8.0? Also, I just ran out of Tropic Marin Bio-Mag and I am thinking of switching toi a better product for Calcium as well. I have tried B-Ionic 2 part and now Tropic Marin Bio Cal and Mag. What do you use? Thanks Last edited by Airborne; 11/30/2009 at 12:48 PM. Reason: Need to bold subject |

pH 8.0 is perfectly fine, so I wouldn't try to "fix" that.
But if you do, using a higher pH alkalinity supplement than the Tropic Marin Biocalcium would be a good choice. Yes, Biocalcium supplies alkalinity. The original B-ionic is a fine choice, as is a DIY two part or limewater. All will result in higher pH.
