My bimac died today.

Many of you in this forum may remember my bimac that I've had for the last six months. It was probably the most reclusive, shy, and timid bimac in the world. Well, today Oscar the Octopus died.

I made my wife take him out, I couldn't bear to see him dead.

He lived for six months, ate NOTHING but hermits, and did play with the tongs I fed him with a few times.

The bigest questions - since I only saw him about once every two weeks, how did I ever spot him dead today? Well, I always look for him when I feed him, and today, he bravely died out in the open where I could find him. At least he was visible one last time.

He will be missed.

Of course, with every loss comes a new opportunity. I'll probably reconfigure my tank back to a reef tank and try something else.

Sorry to hear about your loss alligator. I am not sure why your bimac was so reclusive. Most bimacs are not this way. If you decide not to try another octopus you might consider giveing a peacock mantis a try. Hopefully by summer I will have some of my own captive breed bimacs for sale. I will keep every one posted.
