help refugium with cheato

Hi i was wondering I have got my refugium setup with a deep sand bed of about 5" I am planning on adding cheato soon also I've got a 6500k light coming but the one problem I may have is the phosban reactor pump is in the refugium and may cause the cheato to be sucked into the pump what could I do to solve this I have very little room for movement.
The one think I can so is move the pump near the intake pipe so that keeps it away.
I am running 2 split sumps on has got inlet from tank with skimmer return etc on the return is a pip which fills the other sump and get over flown back to the start and so on.

The water coming into this sump from the top corner where the sand is blowing the white pipe bottom left goes into the inlet return skimmer section
