My first anemone. A little worried.
I got my first carpet anemone and he looked really good at the LFS so i got him took him home slowly acclimated him and placed him on the sand next to a rock where he climbed up a little and stayed right there for three days now. The mouth opens a bit and you can see the inside than after a while he closes the mouth completely than opens it again. Last night it was completely shut for a while when lights where off than i noticed it opened again. Im curious if this is normal when they are acclimating to new tank?
55 gallon tank 30 gallon sump 0 everything and under 10ppm on nitrate Ph 8.0 Temp ranges from 78 during morning and night than 80-82 during the day time. Im running LED lights. 10 hours blue 8 hours white. |

Now I'm not too experienced but to me the temperature shouldn't fluctuate that much |

temps are fine.
give it a few days. it might take awhile to your LEDs. what kinds of light was it under in the fish store? whatever you do, dont mess with it. it will do it's own thing people seem to panic with these things and start moving them all over the tank....which stresses them out faster than anything....

Try feeding a bit of chopped shrimp or scallop. If the tentacles grab it, that's a good sign.
Otherwise let it be. I have 3 BTA's and they all close up once in a while, then come back better than ever.

What is your salinity level? It could be doing that if the salinity is on the low side.

you might also check out the anemone forum, lots of info in there about carpet nems. I've never had one so I don't know what's up with yours, but I hope he settles in for you.
