Emergency-Low Salinity

Hello, due to a stupid goof I let R/O water trickle into my one gt tank for basically 36 hours straight, unbelievably the fish are alive, the salinity is registering 1.005 whats the best way to get this up and how long can the fish tolerate it.

Just let evaporation correct the salinity. A fan will help speed up evaporation. The fish will likely be fine.

And top off with salt water rather than FW. Bring the salinity back up slowly.

Should the top off just be regular salinity level. Fresh salt water.

Emergency-Low Salinity

Was any water removed or overflowed? If so then just top off with your target salinity. If no water was removed then don't top off at all and it will correct itself once it reaches the correct running water level.

Mixing saltwater at high concentrations can lead to precipitation of calcium carbonate.

That would be slower than topping off with saline water (I would use 1.026) Sounds like you need to review your top off protocol as well.

I meant tank target. Like 1.026. Sorry, I wasn't very clear.
