Sick Emerald Crab?... no so emerald

I don't see my emerald crab very often... every few months. I saw him today and he is white. Is the crab sick/starving/just molted? I have no idea. Any help would be appreciated. The tank he is in is a soft coral tank so I keep it a little dirtier than my others. There is green hair algae on one rock which looks cropped but still there so I wouldn't thing he is starving... don't know.

Input appreciated!

I haven't kept an emerald since they exploded onto the scene some decade ago, but when I did, shortly after the molt they were super green and shiny, nearly looking polished, not white.

Have you found a molt recently?

In contrast, just prior to the molt, the crab would go white as the crab attempts to shed it's dead exoskeleton (syrinx think a snake just prior to molt). I'd keep your eye out for a nicely polished emerald in the next day or so, and a free-floating exo-skeleton.

No evidence of molting. Good to know. I'll let you know if he shows up shiny and green.

I was thinking fresh ly moulted before the hardening- kind of like soft shells out east! But if its been more than a few hours- it should be green.
