Important Fauna marin balling salts question
On the trace bottles and the powder tubs there is conflicting advice.
Trace:mix 500 gram carbonate mix with 4 l of RO water, then fill it up to 5 litre with RO Implying that its 5 litres total vol of solution on the tub:mix 500 gram of carbonate mix with 4 l of RO water, then add an additional 1 litre of RO water to the container. this would result in more than 5 litres of solution. which is correct? Thanks

You would have to ask the manufacturer to be sure. However, concentrations are usually measured in grams per liter, which implies the first is correct.

They both might be close enough for our purposes. I'd use the instructions on the package for the product being mixed, so one method for the carbonate, the other for the trace elements.

but you add the trace to the salt?
basically its not much of a thing for the Carbonate mix about 200ml difference for 5liters of solution but with the calcium and Mag there is a much bigger discrepancy between the methods. I am tending towards the total volume method at the moment but it may be sothing lost in translation as its a German product.

I'm a bit confused now. By "trace", do you mean that there's a separate powder for the trace elements and the carbonate mix, and that you combine the two? Carbonate mixes aren't usually considered as trace elements, but the manufacturer can use any label. I would use the directions on the tub for the product in the tub. How many different powders do you have?
