mushroom flower pedals

had some mushrooms in my tank and they were great. they have been spreading (2 new babies)in one month, but I upgraded my lights and the biggest one shrank. and has darker and lighter spots , it looks as if there are two pedals and the split goes almost to the mouth, my buddy says its gonna split into two mushrooms but he has only been reefing for 2 years. and dosent have any purple mushrooms like me. they are 8inches from the top with good flow(6g mini reef, great flow everywhere) what to do???? OH YEAH the other mushrooms look great. should I move them lower or does it sound like there splitting???? I have not seen one split so don't know what to look for. I would hate to lose it, because it was the first frag I got, and had been doing great... parameters look good but ALK need to a bit higher in the eight and a half range. THANKS!!

2 years is plenty of experience to know if a shroom is going to split or not. lol Perhaps you should trust your buddy a little more. If he said this about some rare coral, then I would have doubts, but its JUST a mushroom.
