Water Softener Water

I am new to salt water tanks and i have a question regarding water softeners. To start with i have a well - and the water is very hard. I put in a top of the line water softener and i was wondering if this water (softened) can be used for the tank?

Thanks

Wrong forum. I would recommend investing in a ro/di unit. You can get a good one for around $150-$200. There's a few sponcers here on RC who sell them.

This thread has been moved to the current forum.

I would use the water from before the softener. Many of the salts used in those system contain varius anti caking agents that have been known to leach chemicals harmfull to fish. Besides those hardness minerals being removed are calcium and magnesium, something you want in your tank

Install an RO/DI after the water softener and you have the best you can get. RO units love water softeners, they do lots of the work for them.
