I ran my tank for many years with regular stand pipes. I just recently put the durso stand pipes on my tank and I cannot believe the diference.
Durso, hands down.

Well, "full" is dependant on the height of the standpipe. I have my durso venting just below the top of the tank, so there is a 2-3 inch drop that the water takes through the overflow teeth. Still VERY quiet; trick is to get the proper sized hole drilled on the top cap of the durso to get good air intake without getting a sucking sound - start small and gradually increase until its right. If you're not using one yet, you won't believe the difference it makes - crashing waterfall to a barely audible trickling noise, if even that! Another side-benefit is the overflow chambers are now pod factories (I don't have any lights positioned over them) - I see all sorts of little guys scurrying around in there!
