SLOreefer's basic 15 gallon...well semi basic...
My 5.5 gallon AIO is quickly running out of space (When I say quickly, I mean I can't fit another piece on the rock) so I needed to set up something new.
I really like the dimensions of travis's tank so i thought that would be my start. This tank is stil being put together and I still have a ton of work to do to get it running but hopefully in the next week or two we will see some water! Equipment List: 2-Koralia 1's 4x24w T5HO retro in a custom hood or wood pendant....haven't figured it out yet 1-100w EboJager heater Custom behind the tank refugium (drilling the tank for this) Still need to build it! Mini jet 600 or 400 to pump water back to tank The tank will be a mixed reef with all of my favorite lps and zoaz with a few sps. (mostly caps cause I like em) I will hopefully be adding pics soon with some build progress pics! |

I got the refugium built, and tank drilled...I've gotta leak test and then get this bad boy set up, I just picked up 17 pounds of live rock from a tank breakdown so it is well established, hopefully a short cycle!
I am still waiting for my lights to get here, and once they do I can start on my canopy, or pendant....havent decided which....what do you all think? |

Nice tank! Great job on the fuge! What are the dimensions on that 15? Is it an AGA tank?

Thanks guys, Im gonna get the hood over the tank today at some point!
Nemus, the tank is by aqueon which I believe is the new name for aga. It is called a 15L and the dimensions are 24x12x12.....just 6 inches shorter in length than the 20L, I think they look pretty sweet. |

Dude! I love it!Very nice job. I'm picking up my own 15L project tank today... youve inspired me Do you think your K1's are enough flow, or would you go bigger or smaller? I have 2 K3's im going to sell and want to know what would be good to get for this tank.

Thanks for the comments guys!
Nemus, The k1's may be enough, I dont have any corals in it yet so it is hard to judge with just rock. It doesnt appear to be much though. If I could go back I think I would get 3 mj900's on a wavemaker and cut the outputs so it was really wide flow. Im kinda undecided on it, ill let you know once I get the other corals in there. A vortech would be really cool too but they are bookoo bucks! |

I have a 20L and think a pair of K1's is perfect for it. I also have a HOB Rio nano-skimmer that turns 110gph on top of the K1's. I don't think you'd need any more than that in a tank of similar size.

Sprinj76- My current bulb selection is
Front Blue Plus Super Actinic Aquasun Blue Plus Rear I am pretty happy with the coloration as of right now. I do have a few other bulbs I might try out...the aquascience 22k and the fiji purple. I might get the 75/25 to replace the super actinic as well....not too sure just yet. |
