Jebao DCT 4000 for 100G tank?
Hi,
Is Jebao (Jecod) DCT 4000 a good pump for 105G tank with 35G sump? I'll use Herbie Overflow and want to put T (tee) for controlled refugium to return. So, this pump can handle all that or I need a stronger one? Thanks |

I have a 100 gallon with 30 gallon sump running a 5000. I run it at full power. I recommend the 6000(I have one as a back up). You can control (reduce)the speed if needed. I like having more power if needed. I also run 2 RW8s in wave 1 half power. Plenty of flow in the tank!

I run a DC6000 on my 75g tank. Have it on setting 4 of 6. It supplies 2 reactors, UV sterilizer and the DT. For a 100g I'd get at least a 6000 but then I would probably also do a manifold system so 8000 or 10000. You'll probably want 2 1" drains.

1) Figure out what flow rate through the system you want; 2) Figure out the head loss in your plumbing design; 3) Choose your pump size based on that number and the pump's head loss chart. Guessing at some numbers since I don't know your plumbing setup, that DCT 4000 is probably about a 1000 gph pump at 0 head loss and full power. Assuming around 6 feet of head pressure would give you maximum flow somewhere in the 500 gph range for 3/4" pipe. So, 3x to 4x your system volume for flow rate (without considering the tee to the refugium). The people who are answering without knowing the flow rate you want and the head loss you have in your plumbing are guessing. Just like me! Regards Michael

At least a dct8000 without anything else plumbed off it unless possibly a reactor or two but then id go with the 12000.

Jebao DCT 4000 for 100G tank?
Here is a shot of the plumbing when I was first setting it up. It's not complete but you get the idea. My reactors were not in series because one was carbon/gfo and the other was biopellets.

I run a DTC 4000 on my 125. I rely on 2 RW-15's on full blast for in tank flow, and I don't really see much reason to have crazy flow through the sump. That being said, if I ran a series of reactors, I'd probably get something bigger.
