85 hex SH tank

I am looking at starting an 85g Hex seahorse tank. I plan on just a pair of reidi's but am wondering if any other docile fish an coexist with them...clowns? What else? I was told that pipefish should not be kept with seahorses. What do you have out there?

Hi, Have you researched H. reidi`s? The fry are very difficult to rear..I would recommend H. Barouri`s or H. Southern Erectus.. I have a purple firefish, mandarin dragonette, yellow clown gobies in the seahorse tank.. , I have heard you can put cardinals and clown fish with seahorses.. I have a 10 gal Dwarf seahorse tank with about 45 adults and babies..I panacured the tank to keep killer hydroids out.. I only trust nassarius snails and cerith snails with them. the seahorses are very small.. I also have 2 dwarf pipe fish who had a bunch of babies as well.. I did a lot of research in books and online. seahorse.com is a good informative site.. I currently have 5 Southern H. Erectus . If I can help more let me know... 85 gal tank is a very large tank for seahorses.. I have a 29 gal drilled with 14 gal sump, a 20 gal tall , with a 10gal sump which houses one pair of Erectus.

That is very interesting. Do you have the pipefish with the seahorses? I know that they are compatible, but apparently they can spread disease to each other.
What did you mean by "panacured" the tank?
Thanks

yes the dwarf pipes are with the dwarf seahorses.. I panacured only the dwarf seahorse tank. If you use live rock and live sand with dwarf seahorses along with feeding newly hatched baby brine shrimp, hydroids are bound to surface in the tank and can kill the seahorses. hydroids are very small stinging aenemonies that can wipe out dwarf seahorses.. The larger seahorses are not affected by these hydroids, and if you are careful and get tank raised seahorses like erectus and barbouri they are fed frozen mysis..

I forgot to add Panacur is a dog wormer used in dwarf seahorse tanks. It kills worms and hydroids, The only draw back is you can`t put inverts in such as starfish .. but I dont trust but the snails I mentioned above anyway so It was a no brainer for me. Panacur will not hurt the seahorses.. I havent had any problems with disease in the dwarf sh`s or dwarf pipes. I took the proper precaution when I got them. fresh water dip and used formalyn.. any more questions I will be glad to share what I have learned.
