New to Columbus - looking for some advice

Hello all,

I'm relatively new to Columbus and trying to get back into the hobby after about 5 years out. I'm planning on putting together a 60g cube with some LPS and a few fish. Does anyone have any advice on which stores are good and which are to be avoided? I've visited Aquarium Adventure for some info and just visited Jack's Pets once. I have not been to Phishy Business yet.

Also, if anyone has a 60g cube and stand and is looking to sell, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks!

You should quarantine fish no matter where you get them from.

Phishy Business in Gahanna and Reef Systems in New Albany are both great resources. Both are also sponsors of our local CORA forum above.

Welcome to CORA.

This is the time of year that Marineland offers tank specials to their retailers. My local shop (Pittsburgh) is having a tank sale until 14 Mar. If you are purchasing soon you can save quite a bit.

Phishy is definitely the premier saltwater retail store in the Columbus area. Reef Systems is a must see as well. This forum and Cora are both great sources for information, problem solving and you'll often find good deals in the selling/trading forums as well

As for the ones to avoid, that's generally opinion based, although there are definitely a couple around. Not something that's proper to publish here but, if you want my opinion, based on personal experience; feel free to pm me if unsure the place you're dealing with is on the up and up. There are some that will solicit you through private messages here. I doubt you need my advice on whether you should deal with that desperate a seller! Very few and far between here in Columbus, however

Welcome back! If there's anything you need help with, let us know

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'll probably check out these places over the weekend.
