Lighting / Filter Question (revised)
I have a 75G SWT not drilled. I want to do heavy fish and coral. As far as lighting i'm looking at 2
Reefbrite Halide Hybrid 175W AI Vega's Color Thoughts? Other Suggestions? As far as filtration, it was suggested to use a Eshopps 125 W/D system...Thoughts? Other suggestions? What pump? What powerheads, and flow? What Protein Skimmer? Man I need help! Steve in KY *I posted a similar post under a user name that was banned today because it had 420 in it, and they said it was related to drug use. Let it be known that 420 was my badge number for the last 10 years of my career as a Richmond KY Police Officer, and I'm sad that I can't use it here. I use it on other forums with no problem. But I wanted to clear up my use of that number. |

Personally i like LEDs....I would suggest anything AI.
Do you want controllable powerheads or do you want something that is constant flow? Do you have a sump? If so what dimensions can you handle for your skimmer? |

If you are going to be using a sump or wet/dry filter, why not build your own sump and save a ton of money? Its pretty simple to do and depending on supplies already available to you, you might be able to do it for under $100. Return pump will be based off of your head loss. Once you got that figured out then you will be set. Just try to go a little larger than needed with a ball valve to adjust flow just in case. You did not mention anything about an overflow, do you have one already? Power Heads are another hot topic. If you wanna get the best of the best, anything VorTech is good. You will pay for it though. Instead, you might want to try a WP25 or WP40. Koralia has nice PHs too. With a SmartWave controller it can work wonders for you at a decent cost. Skimmer for my 75g is a Reef Octopus NWB150 and it is great. Pulls all kinds of gunk out of my tank.
