dead fish question

I had a chromis that has gone missing and my skimmer is now not working correctly, overflowing a lot and i am noticing a little bit of hair algae popping up. My phosphates are at 0.04 (hannah checker) So theoretically speaking, as long as my phosphates stay down below 0.05, the hair algae will go away on its own correct? and my skimmer will eventually begin to work again?

what you see on the hanna checker is just what the meter can see, the hair algae is useing up the phosphates as it comes into the tank before the meter gets a chance to see it. hopefully that makes sence.

but yes if you keep your phosphates low and also nitrates the hair algae should die off on it's own.

as for the skimmer, I would give it a good cleaning and check the ventri for clogs.
