Pink Light question
My Tek light fixture is a few years old now, just changed my bulbs a few months ago and noticed two are now giving off Pink light (they are 10K bulbs).
Is my ballast going? Anyone know how many ballasts are in a 4 foot 6 bulb unit? Suggestions for a new ballast? Anything else I should know? Thanks |

I swap bulbs about every 9 months, so those are fairly old if original.

What specific bulbs did you get? Are you looking at them after they have been running at least an hour?

depends on model. some ballasts can only run 1 bulb, others more. Take it apart and see. I would say take the bulbs back first, then see about replacing the ballast(s)

Davocean - bulbs a few months old - fixture is a few years
MAVRK - UVL bulbs - been on about 5 hours now today Rockys - Bulbs mail order taking back would be difficult but if pink bulbs is a sympton of lights not ballast then I'll call where I got them. Not sure of model of Tek Light just know its the standard 4 foot w/6 t-5's |

Are they UVL actinic white? I believe these bulbs have a bit of a pinkish hue. Check with the Grim Reefer in the T5 Q&A thread in the lighting and equipment forum...

Oops, read too fast.
Different bulb manufacturers can have a different color even though they are same spectrum rating. I actually have one pink bulb for full spectrum. I don't think it would be ballast, but yeah, grim is the guy to check in light/filt forum.

I've got 4 of these bulbs and only is pink the one next to it is pinkish is why I was questioning the number of ballasts in the Tek Light fixture.
Thanks |
