Hey,
Ive had my little reef for 18 months now and even though it has been built on a budget I havent had too many problems over the past year or so. All of a sudden I have had hair algae sprout all over my tank and dosnt seem to be wanting to go away even though I have boosted my clean up crew population. Testing remains relatively stable over the past year even though they arent perfect any ideas? Livestock that i got is:- 2 Ocellaris clown numerous softies + mushrooms cleanup crew I have a 30 g 36 x 15 x 15 tank with 3 10k 25W flouro(one actinic) and 2 55w T5 PC`s. 15lbs live rock and 30 lbs base rock, 375gph cannister filter with ceramic rings, floss, carbon and sponge(gets cleaned once a week),seaclone skimmer and two 350gph powerheads. Params are pH = 8.3 Alk = 15dKH Cal = 470 Ammonia = 0 Nitrite = 0 Nitrate = 10 - 15 ppm Temp = 80f sg = 1.024

When is the last time you've changed your bulbs? Do you use RO/DI or tap water?

I experienced the same problem and it turns out I had a dirty RO filter that I was using for top off. Changed the filter, did weekly water changes and turned the lights off for 3 days in row each week. I got 2 sea hares. After fighting the good fight it all went away in about 1.5-2 months.
