Calupera and Chaeto

Can Calupera and Chaeto be used together? Chaeto in fuge and Calupera in my display tank.

yes but you wont want caulerpa in your Display, it can take over the rocks and smother out light for corals, there is a recent thread on the forum about someone whos tank is taken over by caulerpa and is looking for a fish that would eat it.
grow them together.

You could, but probably one would out-compete the other as far as nutrient uptake is concerned, so you might end up with just one.

No way to know if that could happen in your tank until you try it. And yes caulerpa is the devil , but it's a matter of taste if you want it in your display or not. Good luck!!

I had both in my fuge. I now have caulerpa. It's a great phospate remover, but it outcompetes most other macro.

I'll second that, I had big ball of cheato and a tiny bit of calupera, the calupera has taken over my fudge and the chaeto is disappearing quickly. No complaints as my nitrates are gone too!

I tried chaeto and caulerpa at the same time, not really sure why I did, but the caulerpa won, and is now growing out of the sump...

My intentions were to use macro in my sump to reduce phosphates and nutrient levels...Is working great, lighted during the night cycle...once a month I slowly rip (not cut) a handful of it and toss it away...

I have both in my sump, and since then I have not had any sudden die off's of the caulerpra. Not saying that the Cheato is the reason but it's not a bad idea to have some Cheato in case the Caulerpra does decide to suddenly die.

In our reef tanks I have had Caulerpa in my fuges for 7 years now without any problems such as it going sexual or getting into the main display. I do need to prune twice a month and the sump lights are on 24/7.

Nope, Caulerpra can spread through a 1mm hole.
