2 newbie plumbing issues
I have a couple of issues when I run my tank after I installed plumbing. 1 there is a alot of sucking of air by the drains as the tank runs. You can see little air vortices that go down into the drain. This is very loud and I was wondering how this can be fixed.
Second issue is when the main pump shuts off it starts to siphon water back towards the pump. I remember hearing about people drilling small holes in the return somewhere. I just can't figure out the best spot to prevent water from shooting everywhere, should this be below the expected running water line? Thanks for the help, I'm sure you're all seen questions like these before. |

WWW.dursostandpipe.com Should help with the noise issues
A siphon break is what you need. Dill an eigth inch hole in your return line about a half inch above the water line.

Do you mean above the water line when the pump is off or on?

Also I checked out this standpipe stuff and I don't have an overflow box my tank is drilled. Does anyone know any other methods for reducing the noise?
Thanks for the help so far. |

Drill the hole with the pump running.

![]() Also, some people have said they reduced noise in their drains by putting a ball valve in and closing it just a bit to slow the water down just a tad. Brandon |
