I am moving my tank, any tips?
I am moving in one week. and I need help. The house I am moving to is onlt a half hour drive away. I have a 30Gallon tank. I plan on taking some rock and coral out and putting it into buckets. And then draining half the water into those buckets. Move the tank and set it back up. My question is. Is ther e any type of styrofoam etc I could stuff into my tank to keep that sand, water, etc. from stirring too much on the drive?
I will do a 20% water change immediately once I have it set Back up. Any other tips? Thanx. The good news is I have a top of the line 90 gallon display with in insane system in my new place just waiting to get started. |

I would:
Take out all LR and place them into your buckets and cover them with tank water. Bag your corals with enough water to cover them and place them into styrofoam boxes.. most fish stores will give you them free. If weather is cold use a heat pack inside box. Remove all the water from your tank leaving just enough to cover your sand bed. Make enough freshwater to refill your tank. Setup tank at new location. Make sure water temps are the same as bags/buckets. Add your LR and new water into the tank, making sure salinity and all match. Take corals out of box and float them until the temps match. Place corals into tank. Goodluck with your move! |

Above all make sure you have a solid plan before you start the move. I would wrote everything down before beginning. There always seems to be something you forget about.
