Susceptibility of rock to algae?

Are certain types of rock more susceptible to algae than others? I bought my live rock from two different stores and all of the rock from one store seems to be covered in algae while the other rock doesnâ€™t have much at all. Is this normal? Is there a difference between the rocks?

I have noticed that my most porous rock seems to get algae faster than the more solid kind. Just my observation.
