Susceptibility of rock to algae?

Are certain types of rock more susceptible to algae than others? I bought my live rock from two different stores and all of the rock from one store seems to be covered in algae while the other rock doesn’t have much at all. Is this normal? Is there a difference between the rocks?

I have noticed that my most porous rock seems to get algae faster than the more solid kind. Just my observation.
