Some people believe it is good to measure ORP though. I do. Some books mention it is a measure of water purity, but I doubt this to be accurate. It does measure the reactions taking place relative to oxidation and reduction. It measures how much reduction and oxidation is taking place in your water. I believe it is good to measure because trends can be observed with water quality and parameters and related to changes in ORP. It is very useful when measuring both ORP and pH at the same time with a monitor or controller. People say a good range for ORP in the reef aquarium to be between something like 350-450, but mine ranges between 280-330 mv. I mainly look at the trends though in the numbers for day and night and during water changes or otherwise as a precautionary measure. So I think measuring ORP is nice to do, but maybe I just like my gadgets.
