sleeping through pod feast?

Hey all,

By my account, I shouldn't have to feed my sixline wrasse at all: at night I can see hundreds of pod-like things all over the place. Wrasses love grazing on live pods, from what I've read. However, pretty soon after the lights turn off, my wrasse goes to his sleeping spot makes his little mucus coccon and, as far as I can tell, doesn't emerge till morning. Is he sleeping through this pod smorgasboard? I don't see him being too successful getting anything off the rock during the day. Hmm...

I have the same problem with my fish-- they all go to bed as soon as the lights go off. Within minutes there are billions of amphipods and tiny mysids all over the place. Meanwhile the fish are all sawing logs.

If you see that many during the lights out hours, than don't worry about not seeing so many during the day. Perfectly normal. and Joshola, in a 37g tank, I would highly doubt your pod population will stay that way for long unless you get a larger refugium going. wrasses do like pods, but if there hooked on whatever you are feeding the fish, they may not be hunting down as many, and if he is hunting actively everyday, he'll desimate the population witout a little help from you.

My sixline hunts all day long, catching things that I can't see. I imagine that he can find the critters that are just out of sight for us, which is plenty enough to keep him fat.
