Tunze 9010 Air tube problem - HELP!!
Hello,
I pulled my Tunze 9010 out of the box and as I prepped it I realized that the tube connecting the air intake to the water intake is dislodged. Its still connected to the air intake, however it is not connected to the water intake (just above the pump). The tube cannot be reinserted into the water intake until the pump is in place (because it connects through the tip of the pump). However once the pump is in place my hands don't fit into the main compartment to connect the tube. Has anyone dealt with this? Any tips? I don't even want to turn it on or place it in the sump until I've fixed this. Thanks |

I can't because there is a hole in the tip of the pump that must line up perfectly with a hole in the water intake. The air tube is then supposed to "snake" through the two holes. The holes line up right on top of eachother and then the air tube fits in perfectly. The only way the holes line up perfectly is when the pump is completely set into place.

with my 9015 which has the exact body and pump of the 9010 i can connect the hose to the pump while the pump is out of the body in my hand and then i can place the pump in the body with no issues.

You can do a few things. Disconnect the air hose from the pump and reconnect to the silencer inside the skimmer body with the pump totally out of the skimmer. Then put the air hose back on the pump, when the pump its partially inserted in the skimmer body. The hose should be long enough for this. If its not simply get a slightly longer hose cut to size and repeat.

OK, just figured it out. I didn't realize there was a piece that connected the pump to the silencer. This piece, where the two holes overlap, comes out. So, I was able to assemble it in the palm of my hand, just like you all said. Thanks so much!!!

After plugging the 9010 in, the pump began making some mechanical noises as though there was something getting stuck in there. In addition to this there doesn't appear to be any water movement going through the skimmer. Am I doing something wrong? I set the skimmer up as per the steps outlined in the instruction manual and I've reread them several times now. Is whats happening normal?
Thanks |

You may get the advice and direction you need if you post this in the Tunze forum. Roger is very quick to respond.

Thanks for the tip. Just read some of Roger's threads that dealt with the same issues I'm dealing with. IT seems I'm not the only one...
THanks. |
