Change sand and Liverock for a new system? or not?

I had a tank, but now is broken!
I going to set up a new tank. I have a Arag-alive, (now is in the water in a garbage can, together with my live rock.
the system was installed for 2 years.

My question is: I have to change the sand for a new sand?
Can I rinse the sand?
or Can I use the same sand for a new system?
and Live rock is Ok use, for new system ?
in my last system I had po4 problems, and I had Cyano.
Can I clean the live rock?

thank you for your help.

I washed, drained and sun dried my sand during my first tank move. I had heard this is the way to prevent any organics and other compounds that are undesirable getting back into the tank. I had algae problems for the entire year until I moved the tank again, I dumped the sand and started fresh the second time. Much less problems this time, though I am only a month into things since restarting the tank this time. Live rock should be fine, I kept mine in Rubbermaid containers with powerheads, heaters, etc for a month while I got the tank up and running. To boot I got rid of some majano anemones, I guess it was a light rock cooking. Leave the rock in the dark with a powerhead, should help kill any algae.

That move was done in 2 weeks, its much easier and cheaper to buy more sand, or you can try for yourself and learn my lesson on your own, just my one penny of lessons in lost livestock. :0

I just cleaned a lot of sand.

I used filtered water with some bleach to clean the sand. Bleach uses up all the organics leaving clean sand. Rinse well and dry. If you want to dry it faster the oven works well.

Its a lot of work and really depends on how much its worth to you. I didn't feel like purchasing 1200LBs of new sand. If it was 40 lbs I would have just got a new bag.
