What pump can handle backpressure
I saw this in a thread awhile back, but don't remember the pump. I'm needing a feed pump for my calcium reactor that will give me a rock steady drip. My MJ isn't doing the job...
anyone have any suggestions ?? Thanx |

Buy a peristaltic.
You'll never get a "steady" drip out of any aquarium pump. Even the nice Eheims. A decent peristaltic is cheaper than an Eheim, too.

do not run an extra pump run a bleed line off your main pump.

I've been using an Iwaki bellows pump for about a year now and it is by far the best method I've tried.
The one I have is adjustable from 1-100ml with no variation whatsoever. You can find them on eb@y really cheap. .just make sure you get one that is the correct flow rating for your setup and 110v. Pete |

As someone mentioned, Iwaki's handle back pressure quite well. As I recall, you do need to make sure you get the model that is designed for back pressure situations.

there's usually more of them for sale
I'd keep an eye out for Gorman Rupp or Iwaki ones. They are usually listed in either the "other pumps" or the photo processing equipment sections. Pete |
