Purple Up - Good or Bad?

I want to encourage (boost) my purple coraline as I haven't been doing too well lately. I'm dosing B-Ionic about 2 to 3 times a week too. Anyway has anyone tried Purple Up? Is it good?

TIA

I believe the consensus is that Purple Up isn't that great - coralline sugar.

I'd stick with the B-Ionic.

Also, remember that some reefers find coralline to be annoying because they have it growing all over everything. Just have to be careful what you wish for.

Expensive way to get coraline, but yes it does work very well.

Yes it works, but dripping kalk also works and is cheaper.

Thanks Andrew... I like the kalk idea. How much do I use and how do I 'drip'?

Stick with the B-IONIC, dose it every day and not every couple of days. Give it some time. Just curious, what type of lighting do you have?

I use it to keep calcium in check. Not sure if I am getting explosive growth or not, but my coraline is growing. I found the thing that worked best for growing coraline is the Ph level. Once I raised it to 8.3 (from 8.0 - 8.1) the coraline took off.

Just keep up your Alk, CA and Mg and your tank will be purple in a few months. It can be a pain sometimes though. Gets in your powerheads and all over the glass.

It's a bad product that is marketed well. Just maintain your alk/Ca with B-ionic.

Thanks Salty. I tested my calcium and alk today and the numbers were in line. I have the Coralife Aqualight Pro HQI MH (10k). My tank is a 72gal bow front.

Thanks all for the great advice! I'll try dosing b-ionic everyday and add buffer.

If you are going to start dosing B-Ionic there is no need for the buffer. It is a balanced 2-part additive which adds calcium and bicarbonate. Just stick to the B-Ionic and you'll be fine.

Use this calculator before dosing and test often.
